COVID-19 Update: Local Vaccinations & Expanded Eligibility
A limited number of vaccine doses will be administered at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Lakeway (BSW) tomorrow morning (Saturday, March 27) to those who scheduled an appointment on the BSW app or through their website. Mayor Sandy Cox made the announcement yesterday afternoon on her live presentation. As of this post, appointments have already filled up locally, but other appointments are still available through BSW at other locations in Texas. Click here to connect to that information. Thank you to Travis County, Lake Travis Fire Rescue and BSW for collaborating with the City of Lakeway on this event.

Eligibility to receive a COVID-19 vaccine in the State of Texas will expand to all adults starting Monday. The vaccine supply is expected to continue to increase. The Texas Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) also directed vaccine providers to start prioritizing and accommodating people 80 and older. Next week, the State will also launch a new registration website and toll-free number for some public health vaccine clinics. About 30% of those 16 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine in Travis County.

HHS expanded the in-person visitation guidelines for nursing facilities and other long-term care settings this week. Fully-vaccinated nursing facility residents are now allowed close, in-person visits with family members and friends who are not designated essential caregivers, as long as proper safeguards are in place. Proper safety protocols should still be in practice at Texas nursing facilities, including wearing a face covering. Click here for more information.

A total of 78,602 cases have been reported to date in Travis County, with 993 active cases at this time (down from 1,141 last week) and 157 individuals hospitalized in the region (down from 181 last week). A total of 139,452 individuals have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Travis County through Austin Public Health according to the latest update to their dashboard (up from 127,066 last week). Click here to review the COVID-19 case dashboard, which includes an interactive map to see cases by your zip code. Click here for more details on hospitalizations. Travis County remains in Stage 3 of the risk-based guidelines. Whether you have or have not received a vaccine, it's still strongly encouraged to continue to social/physical distance between individuals not in your household, wear a proper face covering, and wash your hands regularly. Thank you for continuing to follow these guidelines.

NEW: Registration Waiver Ending

The temporary waiver of certain vehicle title and registration requirements announced by Governor Greg Abbott on March 16, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic will end on April 14, 2021. The waiver did not waive standard fees associated with title and registrations. If you have not renewed your expired vehicle registration, you should make a plan to renew by that date. There are three ways to renew your vehicle registration through the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles; either online, by mail or in person. As a reminder, Texans will need to obtain a passing vehicle inspection beforehand unless the vehicle is exempt from inspection requirements. Click here for more information.
NEW: Compass Treasure Winners

The Compass Treasure Hunt ended this past weekend at City Park with 50 entries into the contest. The special event from the Parks & Recreation Department had individuals and families exploring Lakeway City Park with a compass to uncover hidden treasure. Participants then sent in a photo to the parks team to enter the contest. Five families were drawn at random this week for uncovering the special treasure chests. Congratulations to the Wood, Poth, Gonzalez, Lendecky and Tewksbury families! Each family will receive a family game pack with board games, puzzles, a compass, along with some candy and other goodies.
