Special thanks to the volunteers who came out from one of our sponsors, Granite Construction! Thank you also to Embassy Suites Denton for providing boxed lunches for all our volunteers! We are blessed to have so much support from our community as we build this home.
Progress on McKinney Street
The walls are up on our 105th home! Thank you to our amazing volunteers for all their hard work getting the walls up on Saturday, October 9. Dina Sosa, the future recipient of the home, was hard at work earning her sweat equity hours, and several members of her family and coworkers were also there volunteering to support her!

Did you know that our Build Committee volunteers spent countless hours preparing the walls ahead of time? They work together throughout the week, working around the weather, to ensure tasks are completed on schedule. We are so grateful for their devotion to our partner families in doing so much behind-the-scenes work on these homes. We could not build these homes without them.
The Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Build is founded on the belief that every faith can be put into action. Putting God’s love into action is a ministry of inclusion. In bringing people together, regardless of religious affiliation, we become agents of peace and reconciliation.

The 2021 Interfaith Build will begin ceremoniously with an Interfaith Celebration event on October 20, hosted at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church. Denton County Judge Andy Eads will be the Master of Ceremonies at this event.

Special thanks to the ten faith organizations that have joined together to build and sponsor the home: Baha’i Faith Center, Creekwood Christian Church, Faith Lutheran Church, Flower Mound United Methodist Church, Islamic Association of Lewisville/Flower Mound, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, The Village Church, and Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church.
Texas Masonry Council Brick Donation
The Texas Masonry Council partners with students across the state to teach them the art of spreading mortar and laying bricks, giving high school students a glimpse of the trade and hoping to spark long-term career interest. On October 13-15, the Council worked with students at Denton High School and reached out to Habitat for Humanity of Denton County to donate the bricks from this workshop. We hope to sell these bricks at the ReStore, or even use them on future Habitat homes! We are looking forward to a long-term partnership with the Texas Masonry Council.
Mark your calendars for our upcoming financial education class on Saturday, October 23 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Greater Denton/Wise County Association of Realtors office at 3805 W. University Drive in Denton.

This free class is for current and aspiring homeowners looking to gain education about managing personal finances and debt. The class will be offered in both English and Spanish by guest speakers from Celanese. Please spread the word!

Special thanks to GDWCAR for offering their space and providing enough room to host classes in both English and Spanish at the same time!
Monday, October 4 was World Habitat Day 2021. World Habitat Day is the United Nations' annual day recognizing the importance of shelter. Every year Habitat for Humanity joins our partners around the world to rededicate ourselves to recognizing the basic right of everyone to adequate shelter.

Every one of us deserves the opportunity for a better future. A decent place to live can remove barriers to opportunity, health and success that might have been part of a family’s life for years, and in many cases for generations.
