Քրիստոնեայ հաւատացեալին հաւատքի կեանքին բարձրակէտը՝ Յարութեան ճշմարտութեան ակընդէտ սպասումին իրականացումն է, երբ մեր հոգու աչքերով կ՛ըմբռնենք հոգեւոր վերածնունդը մեր ողջ էութեան: 

Արդարեւ, Սուրբ Յարութեան խորհուրդը՝ քրիստոնէական մեր հաւատքին ու կեանքին իմաստը բնորոշող առանցքն ու ողնասիւնն է: Եւ եթէ անհաղորդ ենք այս գերագոյն ճշմարտութեան, ապա կը դադրինք կենսագործելէ եւ ստեղծագործութեամբ կեանքը զարդարելու գիտակցութենէն: 

Տօնախմբել Քրիստոսի հրաշալի Յարութիւնը կը նշանակէ կեանքին նայիլ Աւետարանի լոյս պատգամներու պրիսմակին ընդմէջէն, որ մեր առջեւ կը ներկայանայ Աստուածորդին, որպէս ճանապարհը ճշմարտութեան ու սրբութեան, որուն հետքերով քայլողը կը հանդիպի Արարիչն Աստուծոյ: 

Զատկական տօնին առաւօտը մեր հոգեւոր էութեանը մէջ կը հաստատէ նոր կեանքինու առաւել կեանքին արշալոյսը: Սուրբ Յարութեան խորհուրդը տօնախմբել պարզ բառերով կը նշանակէ տօնախմբել ու ապրիլ Քրիստոսի կեանքն ու ներկայութիւնը, հաւատալ Անոր առաքելութեան եւ ի մասնաւորի ճանապարհորդակից դառնալ Անոր երկրաւոր կեանքին մինչեւ խաչելութիւն, եւ ապա տեսիլքն ունենալ Յարութեան խորհուրդին՝ մարդկութեան կեանքին մէջ բացուած ու արմատացած հոգեւոր յաղթանակին։

Զատկական խորհուրդը՝ քրիստոնեայ հաւատացեալի հաւատքի կեանքի վերամկրտութիւն է, մեր հաւատքի կեանքին նոր առաւօտը եւ Յարուցեալին հետ հանդիպելու ու Անոր յաւիտենական ներկայութիւնը վայելելու յոյսն ու խոստումը։ Զատկական տօնը հրաւէր է, որպէսզի վկայախօսը դառնանք Քրիստոսի յարութեան խորհուրդին, Անոր հետ խաչը բարձրանալով, եւ Անոր Յարութեամբ մեր հոգեւոր էութեան մէջ ծնունդ տալու յարութեան յոյսին: 

Քրիստոսի յարութեան խորհուրդը տօնախմբել կը նշանակէ իջնել հոգիներուն խորքը, որպէսզի յարութեան շունչով նոր իմաստ ներշնչենք մեր անհատական կեանքին, մեր ընտանեկան կեանքին եւ մեր համայնքային-ընկերային կեանքին: 

Եւ ինչպիսի՞ խորհուրդ կը տեսնենք Քրիստոսի Յարութեան տօնախմբութեան մէջ: Աղօթքով կրնանք պատասխանել այս հարցումին.- «Քրիստոսի յարութեան խորհուրդով լուսաւորուած մարդուն կեանքը իր մէջ կը տեսնէ առաւելութիւններն ու թերութիւնները եւ իր անձը կը վերահաստատէ կատարելութեան ժայռին վրայ»: 

Յիսուսի յարութեան խորհուրդը դժուար է բառերով բացատրել. հաւատքն է բանալին ըմբռնելու համար յարութեան խորհուրդին անսահմանելիութիւնը, որը կ՛ապրինք այն գիտակցութեամբ ու համոզումով, որ յարութիւնը նոյնինքն այն կամուրջն է, որ մարդը կը տանի ու կ՛առաջնորդէ դէպի յաւիտենականութիւն: Այս տեսիլքն ապրող մարդը իր մէջ կը գտնէ իր կեանքը կատարելագործելու ներքին զօրութիւնը, որոնելու համար ուղիներ ընտանիքը ընկալելու որպէս սրբութիւն սրբոց եւ խաղաղութեան ոգին մատակարարելու մարդկանց միջեւ:  

Երանելի է եւ գերերջանիկ է այն քրիստոնեան, որ Սուրբ Յարութիւնը կը դարձնէ հոգեւոր սնունդը իր կեանքին: Քանզի Սուրբ Յարութեան խորհուրդը ապրող մարդուն համար իր ներքին աշխարհի դուռն է: Գիտութիւն անհրաժեշտ չէ  հասկնալու համար այս ճշմարտութիւնը, այլեւ միայն անկեղծ հաւատք, այնպէս ինչպէս մեր նախնիք որդեգրցին ծառայակերպ ու աղօթաբոյր կեանք՝ Քրիստոսի կեանքին օրինակին հետեւողականութեամբ: 

Արդ, սիրելիներ, Զատկական տօնին մեր պատգամն է, որ ձեր հոգեւոր կեանքը նորոգէք, հաւատքը խորացնէք ձեր էութեան մէջ, բայց ամէնէն աւելին մեր սպասումն է, որ ձեռք-ձեռքի տուած մեր զաւակաց կեանքը զարդարենք քրիստոնէական հաւատքով, որպէսզի ամէն բարի խօսք ու գործ դարձնենք աղօթքի ներշնչող ոգեկան ուժ: Որովհետեւ ինչքան հարուստ են մեր զաւակունք քրիստոնէական հաւատքով, մշտապէս աղօթող, կեանքով Աւետարանի ոգին դրսեւորող, այնքան եւս պաշտպանուած է անոնց կեանքը Աստուծոյ ներկայութեամբ: 

Քրիստոս Յարեաւ ի Մեռելոց

Օրհնեալ է Յարութիւնն Քրիստոսի։

Քրիստոս Իր հրաշալի յարութեամբ պարտութեան կը մատնէ մեր ներքին մեղաւոր մարդը, որպէսզի վերածնինք որպէս նոր մարդ: Մարդկութիւնը երեկ եւ այսօր եւ մշտապէս ծարաւի է նորին: Յիշենք Շնորհալի Մեծ Հայրապետին խօսքը.-« Նորոգող հնութեանց, նորոգեա եւ զիս, նորօք զարդարեալ»: 

Քրիստոս է դուռը՝ նոր կեանքին եւ Իր յարութիւնը՝ դէպի առաւել կեանքի հրաւէրն է:

Easter Sunday commemorates the profound joy of the Resurrection, with the choir and congregation jubilantly proclaiming: “Christ has risen from the dead! He conquered death itself and through His Resurrection bestowed life upon us. Glory to Him for all eternity. Amen.” The Resurrection of our Lord signifies the assurance of redemption for all mankind. The devout exchange Easter greetings: “Christ is risen from the dead” and “Blessed is the Resurrection of Christ.” They partake in a celebratory Easter meal, often featuring lamb and dyed eggs (symbolizing renewal), alongside Easter bread (choreg).

Saint Gregory of Datev perceived the egg as a representation of the cosmos: the shell represents the sky, the membrane symbolizes the air, the egg white embodies water, and the yolk signifies the earth. The tradition of dyeing eggs red symbolizes the world's salvation through the shedding of Christ's blood.

Title: "Embracing the Sacred Symphony of Prayer"

Father Haroutioun Tachejian delivered this sermon on Friday, March 22, 2024, during the Husgoom Vigil services at St. James.

My beloved parishioners,

As we stand on the threshold of the culmination of the Great Lent, let us reflect on the profound significance of the last sung prayer "Praise and Request" that we offer before the dismissal of our congregation. In these sacred words, we find a beautiful mix filled with gratitude, asking for help, and a strong desire for peace and salvation.

"Glory to you, O Lord, our God, who granted us to pass this day in goodness and peace." With these words, we acknowledge the blessings bestowed upon us throughout the day. Each day is a gift from the Almighty, an opportunity to walk in His light, to spread goodness, and to embrace His peace amidst the challenges of life.

"O God, lover of mankind, during this present night which is coming upon us, deliver us from sin, save us from evil, and lead us to good works." As we enter the night, symbolic of the darkness that often envelops our souls, we beseech the Divine Mercy to protect us from the snares of sin and evil. We seek guidance to walk in the path of righteousness, performing deeds that are pleasing in the sight of our Creator.

"Make worthy all those who believe in your holy name for the blessings and glorification of the morning and keep them in peace." Our hearts resonate with the plea for worthiness, understanding our human limitations in the face of divine grace. We pray for the strength to embrace each morning as an opportunity for spiritual renewal and for the grace to dwell in peace despite the storms that may rage around us.

"O Lord, our God, give your peace to the whole world, lift your wrath from your creatures." In a world marked by conflict and discord, our hearts cry out for the peace that transcends all understanding. We implore God to shower His mercy upon humanity, to quench the flames of anger and resentment, and to usher in an era of reconciliation and harmony.

"Save us from the eternal fire, and to you be glory forever. Amen." In this final plea, we acknowledge our complete reliance on the saving grace of God. We confess our human weaknesses and our need for redemption, trusting in the boundless mercy of our Creator to rescue us from the eternal fires of damnation.

As we offer these sacred words, let us do so with hearts aflame with devotion and minds attuned to the divine will. May these prayers serve as a beacon of hope, guiding us through the darkness and illuminating the path towards spiritual fulfillment and eternal salvation. Amen.

Title: "Embracing Christ: Empowering Youth to Welcome Him into Our Hearts on Palm Sunday"

Father Haroutioun Tachejian delivered this sermon on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at St. James.

My dear parishioners,

This Palm Sunday, we're here to remember when Jesus entered Jerusalem, a moment of both seriousness and happiness.

You've probably heard the story of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey while people waved palm branches and cheered. It's a famous scene, but it's more than just a story. It's a message for us today: to let Jesus into our hearts. Just like the people in Jerusalem shouted "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" (John 12:13), we're called to welcome Jesus as our King and Savior.

St. Augustine one of the early church fathers, understood how important Jesus's entry into Jerusalem was. Augustine encouraged people not just to watch but to follow Jesus with humble hearts and lives that reflect His teachings. He said, "Run to meet Him as He comes, for He is coming to His Passion." Our way of showing love to Jesus isn't just by waving palm branches; it's by being truly devoted to Him and letting Him change our lives.

Palm Sunday is special for our young ones. In our Armenian Church, we call it Children's Blessing Day. Our kids, dressed nicely, walk with us in the procession, holding candles that light up our path. They remind us of what Jesus said: "Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" (Matthew 19:14). Our young people aren't just the future of our faith; they're a big part of our faith, bringing energy and happiness to our church.

Following the Divine Liturgy, the "Trnpatsek" ceremony, or Opening of the Doors, takes center stage. Positioned on either side of the closed altar curtain, the priest and deacon symbolize Christ and the faithful, respectively. Through fervent prayers and chants, the deacon pleads for the Lord to open His Kingdom, while the priest, representing Christ, extends the invitation to inherit the Kingdom prepared for the faithful. As the doors open, echoing the invitation of Christ, the faithful enter the church with hearts filled with spiritual joy.

Today, as we get palm branches, let's remember they're not just symbols. They're reminders of our promise to Jesus. Let's keep them with us as we think about Jesus's journey through Holy Week – from His suffering to His death and then His rising again. Let's invite Jesus into our hearts again, letting Him change us from the inside.

As we start this important time, let's remember that Jesus invites each of us to accept Him as our King and Savior, to open our hearts to His love and kindness, and to follow Him closely. May the happiness of Palm Sunday fill us with hope as we move toward Easter, where we celebrate Jesus rising from the dead. Amen.

ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆ ԸՍՏ ՄԱՐԿՈՍԻ 16.2-8

Կիրակի առաւօտ կանուխ, արեւածագին, գերեզման եկան:

– Ո՞վ պիտի գլորէ գերեզմանի մուտքին դրուած քարը,- կը հարցնէին իրարու, որովհետեւ քարը շատմեծ էր:

Սակայն երբ նայեցան, տեսան որ քարը արդէն իսկ գլորուած էր: Գերեզմանէն ներս մտան եւճերմակ զգեստ հագած երիտասարդ մը տեսան, որ աջ կողմը նստած էր, եւ սարսափեցան: Երիտասարդը ըսաւ անոնց.

– Մի՛ վախնաք, գիտեմ որ խաչուած Նազովրեցի Յիսուսը կը փնտռէք, բայց հոս չէ՛, յարութիւն առաւ: Տեսէ՛ք, զինք հոս դրած էին: Այժմ գացէք, ըսէք իր աշակերտներուն եւ Պետրոսի, որ ահա ինք ձեզմէառաջ կ’երթայ Գալիլեա. հո՛ն պիտի տեսնէք զինք, ինչպէս որ ըսած էր ձեզի:

Երբ ասիկա լսեցին, դուրս փախան գերեզմանէն, զար-հուրած ու ապշահար, եւ ոչ մէկուն բան մըըսին, որովհետեւ կը վախնային:

ԱՌԱՔԵԱԼՆԵՐՈՒ ԳՈՐԾԵՐԸ 1.15-26

Համբարձումէն քանի մը օրեր ետք, երբ շուրջ հարիւրքսան հաւատացեալներ մէկտեղուած էին, Պետրոս ոտքի ելլելով ըսաւ.

– Եղբայրնե՛ր, պէտք էր կատարուէր Սուրբ գիրքին մէջ գրուածը, այն՝ ինչ որ նախօրօք Սուրբ Հոգինըսած էր Դաւիթի բերնով՝ Յուդայի մասին, որ Յիսուսը ձերբակալողներուն առաջնորդը եղաւ: Յուդամեր խումբէն էր, մեզի պէս առաքելական ծառայութեան համար ընտրուած: Բայց իր անիրաւմատնութենէն ետք, որուն վարձքով ագարակ մը գնեց, երեսն ի վայր ինկաւ այնտեղ եւ փորըճեղքուելով՝ փորոտիքը դուրս թափեցաւ: Բոլոր Երուսաղէմացիները այս մասին իմացան, եւ այսպատճառով ալ այդ ագարակը իրենց բարբառով Ակեղդամա, այսինքն՝ Արեան ագարակ կը կոչեն: Արդ, Սաղմոսներու գիրքին մէջ գրուած է. «Թող անոր տունը աւերակ մնայ, եւ հոն մարդ չբնակի». իսկուրիշ տեղ մը կ’ըսէ. «Իր պաշտօնը ուրիշ մէկը թող առնէ»: Այստեղ կան մարդիկ, որոնք միշտ մերհետը եղած են Տէր Յիսուսի երկրաւոր առաքելութեան ամբողջ տեւողութեան, Յովհաննէսի ձեռքովանոր մկրտութենէն մինչեւ երկինք համբարձման օրը: Ասոնցմէ մէկը պէտք է որ տասնըմէկիսմիանայ՝ Քրիստոսի յարութեան վկայ ըլլալու համար:

Այն ատեն հաւատացեալները երկու հոգի ներկայացուցին. Բարսաբա կոչուած Յովսէփը, որ Արդարմականուանուեցաւ, եւ Մատաթիան: Ապա հետեւեալ աղօթքը ըրին.

– Դուն, Տէ՛ր, որ կը ճանչնաս բոլոր մարդոց սիրտերը, ցոյց տուր մեզի՝ թէ այս երկուքէն ո՛ր մէկըկ’ընտրես առաքելական այս պաշտօնին համար, որմէ Յուդա ինկաւ՝ իրեն սահմանուած տեղըերթալու համար:

Ապա երկու անուններուն վրայ վիճակ ձգեցին: Վիճակը Մատաթիային ելաւ, եւ անիկա տասնըմէկառաքեալներուն կարգին դասուեցաւ:

BIBLICAL READINGS

SUNDAY, MARCH 31, 2024

 Mark 16:2-8 

And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. They had been saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.” So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

Acts 1:15-26

In those days Peter stood up among the believers (together the crowd numbered about one hundred twenty persons) and said, “Friends, the scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit through David foretold concerning Judas, who became a guide for those who arrested Jesus—for he was numbered among us and was allotted his share in this ministry.” (Now this man acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out. This became known to all the residents of Jerusalem, so that the field was called in their language Hakeldama, that is, Field of Blood.) “For it is written in the book of Psalms, 

‘Let his homestead become desolate, and let there be no one to live in it;’ and  ‘Let another take his position of overseer.’ 

So one of the men who have accompanied us during all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from us—one of these must become a witness with us to his resurrection.” So they proposed two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was also known as Justus, and Matthias. Then they prayed and said, “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which one of these two you have chosen to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place.” And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias; and he was added to the eleven apostles.
