We have a new section leader of our choir!
Meet Justin Henry.
From the moment he started talking, he's been entertaining audiences of all sizes. At 5 years old J. L. had his first solo during his kindergarten graduation. From that moment on, he has spent a long time making a name for himself; and there is no better time than now to do so. J. L. is an incredibly passionate theatre actor, who has been working in the industry since age 12. He graduated from Paulsboro High School and sprinted toward his passion in music. J. L. studied music in West Virginia under the vocal direction of Elizabeth Wotring-Nelson for theatrical singing and studied under Barbara Dever, a metropolitan opera mezzo-soprano, for classical singing at Rowan University. J. L. is considered a Baritone with an Upper extension. His extended range makes it easy for him to step into tenor roles, keeping him competitive in his field. J. L. Has won 1st place in his division for New Jersey N.A.T.S (National Association of Teachers of Singing) 3 consecutive years at his stay at Rowan. He placed 2nd for the Marian Anderson competition as well as 1st place for a Falcon Idol contest in West Virginia. After working in education for about 5 years, he realized that he would never be as happy as when he's on stage. Not long after having such a realization, he made the decision to follow his dream and hasn't looked back. J.L. is happy to become a member of the CCC family.
A BIG thank you from Jason Scappaticci , the Associate Dean of Student Affairs Capital Community College, for our Congregations donations of personal care items to the Capital Cares food pantry.

FROM THE ECCT E NEWS
A message from the ECCT Reparations Task Force

Did you know? Work on reparations is not new. The first demands for reparations were made by enslaved people before the Civil War. Several Episcopal Dioceses have already taken up the work of reparations: Maryland, New York, and Massachusetts. Below is the Diocese of New York’s definition for reparations.

Reparations is the process to remember, repair, restore, reconcile, and make amends for wrongs that can never be singularly reducible to monetary terms. The process of reparations is “a historical reckoning involving acknowledgement that an offense against humanity was committed and that the victims have not received justice.*”

*Passage in quotes offered by Bernice Powell Jackson, Executive Minister for Justice Ministry, The United Church of Christ.

ECCT have been working with the Connecticut River Conservancy to plan two different events to Cherish and Celebrate on the Connecticut River.  We hope you, and others in your parish, will be able to join us.

A collaborative evening prayer service on the bank of the Connecticut River followed by stories of caring for the river.
June 15 will be a time of worship both in person in Old Lyme, CT and through Zoom, beginning at 6:30 p.m. This will be followed by members of the Connecticut River Conservancy speaking, briefly, about their own care for the river. People may register by clicking here.
June 26 will be a “Choose your own Adventure Day” at Riverside Park in Hartford. Folks may choose from paddling with Bishop Ian or walking with a member of the CRC or planting a tree with Jack Hale from Church of the Good Shepherd, Hartford. Or exploring the park on your own. All will join together for a time of worship at 12:30 p.m., led by the Rev. Canon Jorge Pallares of our Cathedral and featuring Mixashawn Rosie of the River Tribes. Following worship, you’re invited to bring a picnic lunch and visit with your fellow Episcopalians from up and down the river. You may register for any of the adventures on that day by clicking here.

CHURCH BY THE POND
By Nancy Jacobs, Lay Coordinator
May 15th, 2021

Thirty gathered in prayer today in Bushnell Park. It was a warm and pleasant day for our gathering of our steady Church By The Pond congregation. We were blessed to see again some friends we had not seen in some time.

Rev. Patrick Bush led us in prayer. His reflection on the Gospel pointed out that Jesus has asked that both he and his followers be sanctified. The disciples, and we, are to serve as a reflection of the world and of God as we live.

Prayers of thanks were offered for our community. We gave thanks for the scientists and health care workers. We prayed for those suffering and for the Israelis and Palestinians during this time of intense conflict.

St. Andrew's Episcoopal Church, Rocky Hill provided bagged lunches for our 36 guests this afternoon. It was a beautiful day to connect with old friends and share conversations.
The Church by the Pond block will be returning next week.
We thank you for your ongoing support to God's Mission. Your pledge may be send via snail mail to our Cathedral ( Cathedral at 45 Church Street Hartford, CT 06103). You may also visit our website to make your pledge or donations or simply click below.

Christ Church Cathedral serves the entire Episcopal Church in Connecticut community for the good of the whole, and is the seat of the bishops. It is "our cathedral." Our Cathedral hosts four congregations in one worshiping community. It's not a parish, as its role is unique in the diocese (see 2015 task force report & resolution). In this its centennial year, Cathedral leaders and Centennial Committee members wish to remind all Episcopalians in CT that by virtue of their membership in a parish, they are members of our Cathedral. All are welcome at any time, and in particular, invited to these events .
