Ward 2 - Engagement
Opportunities
Lisa Kearns l Councillor l Burlington.ca/Ward2
October 18, 2021

In this term of Council, I committed to putting you at the forefront of decision making. This newsletter provides opportunities to learn about matters that affect you and events that connect you to community.

We are always striving to do better and hearing directly from our residents is the best way to get there. We need to hear from you. See below for a listing of upcoming public meetings and various surveys available to all residents.

There are very significant files coming forward for discussion and decision, especially very large planning pre-applications. I applaud our community members that are passionate about where they live and what they value. As always, I know we will have respectful dialogue and ensure all voices are heard.

As always, everyone welcome.
Ward 2 Community Update Public Meeting
It's important to both hear from residents directly and from each other. That's why I have moved to true hybrid meetings. Using Zoom webinar technology, you can join from home and ask your questions, while hearing from those in person that are attending live. We had a very successful hybrid meeting in September following all Covid protocols and look forward to the October meeting.

Participating in a meeting is just one way to connect with me, of course, continue to email or check social media for what's happening in our ward.

My comments:
It is important to note that Council members must review all technical documents and recommendation reports from Planning Staff and reserve any positions (in favour / not in favour) to their dialogue in council chambers.

At the pre-meeting, it is customary to discuss the underlying Official Plan and Zoning policies and how the proponent intends to amend these.

Ward 2 Local Business Roundtable
Nov. 23, 2021

I continue to champion our strong business presence in the Downtown. There are over 400 small local businesses here that have many owners and staff working and living within our neighbourhoods - keeping people invested in our community. This creates a great place to live and promotes culture and economic vibrancy.

This forum is a great one to connect with other business owners and operators to share what you need for continued success in our city.
