Lakeland District - Keeping you Up to Date!
LDSCR says farewell to Julia

Julia Frigault has been with Lakeland District since April 2020 as the Youth Consultant; however, she will be leaving her position on July 16 to pursue graduate studies. She has been responsible for the administration, management, and coordination of all activities related to youth leadership development, After School Time Period initiatives, and healthy lifestyle promotion.

"While I am excited to pursue my PhD, it was an incredibly hard to decision to leave my position at Lakeland District. It has been an absolute privilege working alongside our communities, organizations, and schools, as they are some of the most innovative, creative, and fun people I have ever worked with. I look forward to seeing what Lakeland District's communities and members accomplish in the future. Keep up the great work!" - Julia

Lakeland District wishes you the best of luck through your journey pursuing your graduate studies.

CpraThe power of stories can help bring about positive change.

The ability of recreation, parks and community sport leaders to renew, retool, engage and contribute to community recovery depends on many things, including our willingness to work together. Sharing stories, ideas and innovations can help identify promising practices that can contribute to a collective return to sustainable operations.

That's why ReImagine RREC, a national project to support recreation, parks and community sport, is inviting recreation, parks and community sport leaders everywhere to share their stories.

PHCD & Play Leadership Training

While there are still some uncertainties related to summer programs and what they will look like in our communities, we also recognize that Lakeland District communities and organizations may already be starting to think of training opportunities for summer staff. LDSCR staff is currently working on determining how we will be facilitating (in person, hybrid or virtually) PHCD and Play Leadership training opportunities to our communities in the upcoming months.

What is it? PHCD training teaches front-line leaders (age 15+) how to enhance the quality of the programs they are delivering. It provides in-depth knowledge of the Principles of Healthy Child Development so front-line leaders understand what they need to do to ensure each child's social, emotional and cognitive needs are met. Play Leadership training ensures that leaders have the knowledge and skills necessary to plan and coordinate safe, accessible and enjoyable play opportunities for children.
