About the Program
Professor Nadine Strossen of New York Law School was the ACLU’s first woman president and led the organization for nearly two decades. A graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Law School, National Law Journal has named her one of the country’s 100 Most Influential Lawyers—just one of many honors and awards she has earned throughout her remarkable career. Prof. Strossen describes the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as her heroine and role model. Their interactions date back decades, when Justice Ginsburg was then a national ACLU leader and Strossen was a young local ACLU volunteer. Throughout their distinguished careers they became colleagues and friends.

Kathleen Peratis is now a senior partner at Outten & Golden in New York, where she chairs the firm’s Sexual Harassment Practice Group. Peratis has practiced employment law for the last three decades and is known as one of the country’s leading experts on Title VII in particular, and has earned numerous awards and accolades. Earlier in her career, she succeeded Ruth Bader Ginsburg as head of the ACLU’s Women’s Rights Project. During Peratis’s tenure, the Project secured numerous significant litigation victories, including before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Prof. Strossen and Ms. Peratis will discuss Justice Ginsburg’s legacy as a civil liberties lawyer and jurist, dissect some of her most famous opinions, and share personal insights into the Justice who embraced her Notorious RBG moniker.

Engaging these renowned experts in conversation will be BHBA’s president-elect, Anthony (Tony) Ross, Senior Associate at Murchison & Cumming LLP. As a 1-L, Tony was a student in Prof. Strossen’s Constitutional Law class. He later served as Assistant to the President of the ACLU and Prof. Strossen’s research assistant before graduating from New York Law School.
