INSIDE:

Today is our Life in the Spirit Seminar #7!
This is the last of the 7 LSS talks ( 5 talks before the Pentecost & 2 talks after Pentecost)
See inside.
____

PENTECOST happened last Sunday- and St Antoninus continued to be the place where you want to be at Pentecost!

Many of us came to St Antoninus with our hearts prepared for Pentecost, having been refreshed and renewed by the 9-day Pentecost Novena and the ongoing online Life in the Spirit Seminars.
See inside for the final LSS # 7. (And also resending below the LSS #6 video due to yesterday's incorrect video posting.)

Another big preparation for Pentecost for us was the NJ Charismatic Healing Conference at St Mary Mother of God Church in Middletown NJ. There were 57 St Antoninus parishioners in attendance and about a dozen participating online. The conference was right on the weekend of Pentecost
( Friday night and all day Saturday), ending with a beautiful Pentecost Vigil Mass and a powerful healing session that lasted till 10:30pm.

And so on the following day, Pentecost Sunday, during our Mass & Baptism in the Holy Spirit at St Antoninus, a huge fire was all set to burst into red-hot flames! Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father and through the power of the Holy Spirit!

_______
The great Pentecost outpouring did not end with this weekend!

During this time, we will go deeper into our experience of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and the lessons we learned during the NJ Charismatic School of Healing Conference.

Reposting, with some edits:
Jesus said to His disciples “ Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized wit water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit .” Acts 1:4-5

And true to Jesus' promise – on the day of Pentecost, 10 days after Jesus ascended to heaven, the Holy Spirit did come and the disciples received a most amazing gift from the Father: PENTECOST.

The Holy Spirit, the same Spirit Who was at work when God created the earth, the Spirit by whom our Savior was conceived in the womb of our Blessed Mother Mary, the same Spirit that came upon Jesus at his baptism and was profoundly active in Jesus’ life, especially in his public ministry. It is that same Holy Spirit Who dwells within us and desires to manifest the Kingdom of God through us. (Acts 2:1-4)

In that rush of wind, in those tongues of flame, as the Holy Spirit came and filled the disciples, the Church of the Living God was born. (1 Timothy 3:15)

And so it is, God’s desire is to transform and empower every person of this parish (and every parish), so that his church might manifest the Kingdom of God in power for the conversion of sinners, the making of disciples and the final coming in glory of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Immediately following the Mass, the Holy Eucharist was exposed for adoration and the people of God came up one by one to be prayed with for a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Last Pentecost 2020, we were under lockdown. This time around, with great thanksgiving, St Antoninus exultantly celebrated the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon our beloved Church and in every heart and soul- as together we proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father!

For this reason also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the Name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Phil 2:9-11 )

...and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by
the Holy Spirit(1 Cor 12-3b)

STATEMENT OF THE NEW JERSEY BISHOPS

Reinstating the General Obligation to Attend Mass

Message from Fr Joseph:

It is with much joy that in 2 weeks, on June 6th, we will celebrate the great Feast of Corpus Christi with an outdoor Eucharistic procession. We rejoice and publicly proclaim the great gift of God’s presence among us in the Holy Eucharist.

As of that day, Catholics will no longer be dispensed from the obligation of Sunday Mass & Holy Days of Obligation that had been temporarily granted due to Covid. From this day onward, all Catholics will be obligated to attend Sunday Mass (or Saturday vigil Mass) and Holy Days of Obligation- unless for health reasons or other circumstances beyond their control, they are unable to attend in person. Given this, we are evaluating whether or not to continue live-streaming our Mass. Let us know what you think. Let us together celebrate this Heavenly Delight of God’s Presence among us!

Below is the statement from the bishops of Newark.

In Jesus thru Mary (& St Joseph),
Fr Joseph

STATEMENT OF THE NEW JERSEY BISHOPS
Reinstating the General Obligation to Attend Mass

At this time, due to the observance of public safety protocols and the increase in the availability of vaccines, we have begun a return to some sense of normalcy in various sectors of our society.

Therefore, we the Catholic Bishops of New Jersey, are lifting the dispensation of the Sunday and Holy Days Mass obligation beginning on Saturday, June 5, 2021, and Sunday, June 6, 2021, Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. We welcome the Christian faithful to return to the regular participation in the Sunday Eucharist, the source and summit of our Catholic faith (cf. Code of Canon Law canon 1247 and Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 2180).

This obligation does not apply to those who are ill; those who have reason to believe that they were recently exposed to the coronavirus or another serious or contagious illness; those who are confined to their home, a hospital, or nursing facility; or those with serious underlying health conditions. One should consult the local pastor if questions arise about the obligation to attend Mass (canon 87).

Finally, safety protocols (such as wearing masks, social distancing, etc.) and liturgical directives (communion in the hand, communion under one species, etc.) in each New Jersey Diocese remains in place until modified or revoked by the respective Diocesan Bishop.

Given on May 20, 2021, the memorial of St. Bernardine of Siena.
