Hello Friends,

As we wrap up 2023, we have to look back on what we've accomplished this year. We'd like to give a special thanks to all of the homeowners we get to serve, the sponsors that make our mission possible, the staff team and volunteers that work tirelessly, and our terrific board members. We trust that all of you will be back with us in 2024 to carry out our mission of repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives.

As we look back on our success from the year, our highlights include our successful National Rebuilding Day in April with 500+ volunteers repairing 16 homes and facilities. We completed our bi-annual She Builds projects supporting the Interfaith Works New Leaf Shelter with ABC-Metro Washington and another for the home of a local woman. Our corporate partners supported five give-back projects alongside their dedicated employee volunteers. We hosted our two major events, Cheers to Volunteers in June thanking our volunteers and community as well as the RTMC Golf Tournament in October with over 100 golfers raising funds for critical repairs. We are grateful for the impact we've made together and we eagerly anticipate more in the new year. Thank you for your continued support!

We are incredibly proud to be a trusted community resource and we are committed to continuing to better our processes and adapting to best serve our neighbors in need. So far, this fiscal year we have repaired 79 homes and are on track to serve our goal of 180 homes by June 30th, 2024.

For the many of you have already made an end of year donation we are incredibly thankful and for any that haven’t there is no better time than now to click the donate button below.

With gratitude,

Maury Peterson

Thank You to Our Contractors!

We couldn’t meet our goals or provide such quality work without our amazing contractor partners. Thank you so much to Mario Granados of Transformation Contractor, Victor Aquino of VAQ Renovations, Fabian Molina of Atlántida Builders, and Tim Croman of I.S.E Energy. Throughout the year you have done so much to promote safe and healthy housing and we can’t wait to see what more you’ll all accomplish with us in 2024!

She Builds

At the beginning of this month, we successfully completed our second She Builds project of the year. This initiative for women, by woman, and with women was dedicated to Ms. H. who has lived in her Silver Spring home with her family for the last 25 years. Ms. H. was facing issues with a persistent leak in her basement causing flooding and leading to flooring, ceiling, and wall damage.

A team of dedicated and talented women volunteers came together to address these challenges. They skillfully installed new drop ceiling and wall paneling in the basement, effectively mitigating the water damage. They also built a new stone pathway from her driveway to the basement entrance that will greatly reduce tripping hazards through that area. Despite the slightly chilly weather, everyone involved in the project contributed excellent work and enjoyed the experience. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our sponsors, United Bank and Shapiro & Duncan, whose support made this project possible. A special thank you goes to our Presenting Sponsor, Whiting-Turner, for their exceptional commitment.

This project garnered some media attention, with RTMC proudly featured on the radio through WTOP and in a TV segment on DC News Now. Be on the lookout for more coverage as we continue to raise awareness and celebrate our accomplishments in the community. If you haven’t, check out the article and TV segment by clicking the news sources above for more insights into She Builds or to hear our dedicated staff talk about the work they love.
