We Remember...
Dave Wilcox, long time member of the Chatham UMC, entered Life Eternal on April 15, 2021. Let us keep his wife Peggy and their daughters Nancy and Ellen in our prayers as they have been so faithful and loving in their care for him and for each other. Dave’s ashes will be interred in the Chatham UMC Memorial Garden at a later date.

Letters of love and support can be sent to:

Youth & Kids News
Kids in the Whirl Sunday School class have been learning some things in ASL Sign Language to include those among us who communicate differently. Last week we worked on the signs for the phrase Jesus used to greet his disciples when he appeared to them after the resurrection – Peace Be with You.

What’s Happening in Our Classes this Week?
PreK / Early Elementary - Sundays at 9:30am on Zoom. This week’s theme: Spirit. We’re looking ahead to learn about Pentecost. We’ll hear about what happened when Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to be with his followers, to help them (and us!) teach about God and understand each other.
Check out our song of the week – “Spirit of God

Submerge (4th-8th grade) - Sundays at 10:30am on Zoom. This week’s topic: Bible Genres. We find genres in all aspects of life. Each genre comes with its own set of rules. The better we understand these rules, the less likely we are to misunderstand. This week we’ll begin looking at the different literary genres in the Bible and explore how to ask questions based on the types of literature we encounter when reading the Bible to lead to better understanding.

High School Discussion - Sundays at 11:45am on Zoom. Over the next few weeks we will be discussing various themes from the movie The Shack. Often described as a modern-day parable, the uplifting movie is an artistic and imaginative representation of one man’s unforgettable encounter with the Divine in the wake of pain, sadness, and doubt. This week’s theme: How Does God See Me? We’ll discuss garden stories from Eden to Jesus’ metaphor in John 15 to Sarayu’s garden in the movie and the roles of perspective and relationship.

Sunday School always welcomes new friends to join our active groups. Zoom log-in info for the classes is emailed at the end of each week. If you would like to be added to the distribution group or have questions about which class is right for your children, please email Karen at youthchatumc@optonline.net.
