LATEST NEWS & UPDATES
Over the past few weeks, the Parks and Recreation Department has received a number of reports concerning the existence of giant hogweed along the Clinton River Trail. While there are a number of similarities that lead to misidentification, our Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation park staff would like to confirm that we have only identified cow parsnip along the Clinton River Trail.

Cow parsnip is often confused for giant hogweed, but a distinct difference in size, color and leaf shape can help identify the two plants and ease any confusion.

The state of Michigan has some helpful information you can use to make these distinctions easier! Click here to check it out!

If you do sight any plants that match up to the description of giant hogweed, please contact our office at (586) 446-2700 and we will send staff to look at it further.

Please avoid handling either plant, while cow parsnip is tremendously less dangerous than hogweed, it can still lead to severe skin irritation.
