|
|
CIPS is excited to announce that it has released a new CIPS Certification Application (Beta Version) and welcomes new CIPS Certification applicants to use this new application and provide feedback for the final version.
This new Certification application utilizes the CIPS IT Skills Assessment tool for the Experience section which identifies your current IT skills, skills gaps, and the skills required to progress in your career. IT skills are assessed using SFIA (Skills Framework for the Information Age), which is a technical competency and skills framework that provides a method of mapping an individual’s professional skills to a set of internationally relevant standard definitions.
The “Certification Application Review Fee” will be waved for new application submissions using this Beta application until April 30th 2022. CIPS Membership is still required prior to applying.
Please note that the review time may be longer than the existing application routes.

What is Wordle worth? - CIPS Members Blog on IT World Canada
|
|
By: Donna Lindskog, FCIPS, I.S.P. (ret.)
The free online game, Wordle – code written by a software engineer in his spare time – has people filling up my Facebook feed with their results. Now, the New York Times has bought it, and I think all programmers should note the payday.
Wordle is a game that asks you to guess a five letter word. It gives you 6 tries, and feedback on each guess using colour codes to tell you which letters are correct and if they are in the right or wrong place. The original version only lets you play once a day. The creator, Josh Wardle, thought this limit was what got people intrigued.

As we work toward a more competitive online marketplace, safety and security are paramount. Cyber attacks can have a direct impact on your organization and customers, which can result in financial losses and reputational damage The Government has created CyberSecure Canada, a voluntary certification program to help small and medium-sized organizations protect themselves against cyber threats.
The program is a way for small and medium-sized organizations to improve their cybersecurity knowledge through a free eLearning series and to voluntarily showcase their adherence to a baseline set of security protocols. Visit Canada.ca/cybersecure to learn more about CyberSecure Canada program.
CyberSecure Canada eLearning
CyberSecure Canada offers a free, bilingual eLearning series designed to help small and medium organizations improve their cyber security knowledge and obtain certification.
