May 11-13 — Taking place in Sacramento, the City Leaders Summit is a new event where city officials can influence policy decisions in the Capitol and expand their knowledge and policy chops during three days of in-depth sessions and discussions on the key issues facing cities. The awards, sponsored by Cal Cities League Partners, recognize the successes of cities, as demonstrated by beneficial innovations, resourceful efficiencies, improved public service, and overall enhanced public trust and support. President Joe Biden released his proposed budget for fiscal year 2023. The president’s budget communicates the administration’s spending priorities to Congress, which is the first step in the federal budget and appropriations process. Now, Congress must negotiate spending caps for the 12 federal appropriations bills for fiscal year 2023 and determine final funding levels before the start of the new fiscal year on October 1.
