"Rate Increase" - what does this mean?

An insurance rate is the amount of money necessary to cover losses, cover expenses, and provide a profit to the insurer for a single exposure unit. A rate increase is when these factors see an uptick due to economic circumstances. Rates, as contrasted with loss costs, include provision for the insurer's profit and expenses.

What influenced you to join insurance: In my senior year of high school, I was chosen when a large Insurance agency contacted my school looking for part-time employees. After working there for six months, I was given a full-time account management position handling 1/3 of the commercial lines book of business. I was 17 years old.
