Expanding Our Reach
CEO Update
Every 68 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted (www.rainn.org/statistics) and for every one that is reported to law enforcement, two more are never reported. The reasons can vary - survivors may feel ashamed or embarrassed and not want to tell anyone about what happened to them. Survivors may not realize the other ways the crime committed against them impacts their health and well-being.
COVID-19 Support
If you or someone you know is struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic, call 211. Our staff are available 24/7 to provide confidential support and linkages to community resources.
Sexual Assault Support for a Mom & Daughter
When Samantha came to the Crisis Center to receive a forensic exam after being sexually assaulted, she was anxious to tell her mom what happened to her. She knew she would feel better after talking to her mom, but was unsure of how to share the experience with her. Samantha’s advocate stayed by her side to provide emotional support as she called her mom and to answer any questions that her mom may have.

From an Advocate's Perspective
As the certified rape crisis center for Hillsborough County, we staff a team of victim advocates and forensic nurses who assist individuals in our community following a sexual assault. These individuals come to us feeling broken, lost, hurt, shocked, and confused, and leave having been empowered, supported, and believed. Coming to the Crisis Center for support could mean the difference between survivors carrying the burden of their assault for years, versus living their lives in spite of what happened to them.
