ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY
Work Placement Fall 2021
|
|
In case you weren't aware, the Architectural Technology Program within the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence includes a one-week Work Placement Program for third-year Architectural Technology students. This Placement Program is offered both in the Fall and Winter Terms. This fall, the Placement Week is Monday to Friday, November 1st to 5th, 2021. For these placements positions, Algonquin College is again looking for Employers/Mentors for the Placement Week, either in person or virtually. The one-week Work Placement Program places students in an unpaid work environment for a period of 35 - 40 hours of employment. There is no cost to the Employer and insurance is provided either through The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario (WSIB) or with Algonquin College and CHUBB Insurance of Canada.
You might have participated in this Program in the past. Please consider providing the opportunity for a student to benefit from a work placement position with your organization again this year, either through an in-person/in-office work placement or virtually with mentor supervision. If your firm or organization has not previously participated, consider mentoring a student for the week. If you would like to participate in this program, or require further information, please respond by email to Pablo Medina Villanueva, email medinap@algonquincollege.com.
These last terms have been challenging for our students in many ways. Algonquin is committed to providing a well-rounded education, including work placement experience if possible. Thank you for sharing your working experience with our students.
Note: Algonquin College continues to respond to public health guidelines related to Covid19. As a result, the Architectural Technology Courses will be delivered through remote teaching for the Winter 2021 semester. However, Algonquin College is committed to providing students with a work placement experience if possible. This work experience can be in person, following public health procedures established within individual organizations. This experience can also be virtual, with students working remotely and reporting to organizations through technology (Zoom, Microsoft teams, file sharing, email, etc.).
