Those Gilmore Girls?

Nope! I'm not talking about Lorelai and Rory Gilmore from the popular TV show Gilmore Girls. I'm talking about MY Gilmore girls- Tess and Eva Gilmore, the main characters in Feathers in the Sand (my new novel-that-stirs-heart-and-soul, coming out next summer).

Single mom Tess is 41; Eva is 11; and their mother-daughter relationship has hit the skids due to the last four years of Tess working full time and going to night school. Eva has come to rely on her big brother Micah and her best friend Charli for homework help, emotional support, and fun. But what happens when Charli's family moves across the country, and Micah makes a life decision that forces Tess to make big changes of her own?

Tess has always wanted a "Gilmore Girls" type of relationship with Eva, but it's simply not happening. With the changes Tess is making in their lives—including a move three states away to Seahaven, Maine—she's feeling closer than ever to her daughter. Throw in an appearance from Tess's first love, new friends for Eva, mysterious feathers that keep appearing in places where feathers aren't usually seen, Micah's unexpected need for help, a runaway cat, and letters from Charli that are going unanswered... and these Gilmore girls will need to work extra hard to find their way back to each other!

I'm well into the fourth draft revision of Feathers in the Sand now, and am hoping to get it in the hands of Beta readers in November at some point so that I can make final revisions and edits at the beginning of 2022. Who knows? It might even be published sooner than the summer. Stay tuned!

Stories That Stir the Soul

This month I'm giving away TWO paperback copies of Where the Forest Meets the Stars.

A mysterious child teaches two strangers how to love and trust again. After the loss of her mother and her own battle with cancer, Jo returns to her graduate research on nesting birds, determined to prove that her recent hardships have not broken her. However, her solitary routine is disrupted by the appearance of a mysterious child who shows up at her cabin barefoot and covered in bruises. The girl calls herself Ursa, and she claims to have been sent from the stars to witness five miracles. Jo reluctantly agrees to let her stay—just until she learns more about Ursa’s past. Highly recommend for good, solid, mindful fiction that fills your heart and stirs your soul!

If you want to enter, just fill out the short form here and I'll do a random drawing THIS SUNDAY October 17. I'll send you an email notice that you've won, and I'll just ask for your snail mail address after that! (NOTE: I use the random generator at random.org to choose the winners.)
So Proud to Announce...

My women's novel, Dragonflies at Night placed FOURTH in the Reader's Favorite Book Awards last week. Thousands of authors enter this popular contest every year, and to come in fourth in the category of Women's Fiction is an honor and a blessing.
Greetings! Thank you for taking the time to read my newsletter and for your commitment to reading Stories That Stir the Soul. That's me to the left, last month, taking a walk on Footbridge Beach in Ogunquit Maine, one of my most Happy Places, and quite similar to Seahaven, Maine, where most of Feathers in the Sand takes place. It was pretty warm up there for September that day but windy (as you can see from my crazy hair!).

I'm always happy to hear from you via email (just click "reply" and say hello :) I gladly reply to all questions and comments!

In between newsletters, I'll be posting more often on Instagram, my blog, and/or my Facebook Author page, so please visit me there too.

Be safe, be happy, be well,
