Daily Lenten Offering

Jesus sat down, called the disciples, and said to them, “Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.”

Mark 9:35

Jesus, you taught that the meek would be blessed and inherit the earth. Your life was spent in service to those made low by humanity. Reveal to us today your beloved kingdom, your commonwealth, in which no one is thirsty and everyone has enough. Amen.

Use your slip of red paper to write a sentence or two about how you’ve used humility to deepen a relationship or make a connection with your neighbor.

Don't have one handy? Divide a red piece of paper (8.5x11) and fold it in half twice. You can pick one up at church. Each week of Lent will be a different color.

On Sunday, we ask you to share something with the congregation. Not everyone will be able to share every week. But we hope that everyone will take the time to add a link to our paper chain.

Fasting

You are not alone in this Lenten journey. Here are some of the fasting commitments others shared with us on Ash Wednesday.

  • No screentime before I am out of bed in the morning.
  • Reduce screentime.
  • Spend more time with physical books than streaming.
  • Gossip and judgmental conversation
  • Refrain from judging others.
  • Negative self-talk
  • Be less quick to let small insignificant matters get to me.
