Foundation of Friends

For the third year in a row, our membership drive has surpassed $45,000. The current drive has brought in $45,605.00 from 293 donors. When we created the FOF we never imagined the kind of support we could generate for the library. .

However, our work isn't done. The FOF Board is seeking more active members. We need people willing to represent the Foundation. Those willing to attend events both at the library and community.

Please contact Nick Hagdorn (nhagdorn@ivpl.org) if you are interested.

2023-2024 Annual Appeal

I recently had the pleasure of collaborating with Boy Scout and IVPL patron Norman Boell. He filmed a series of videos to promote the library as a part of his Eagle Scout project.

His video not only highlights some of the activities and resources IVPL provides to the community, but the creativity and passion of some of our young patrons.

Thank you, Norman!

Donations to the library help cover our operating expenses. Please consider donating today. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you wish to speak about supporting the library.

Once registered, the PDFs of the text that you will need to read ahead of time will be emailed to you.

About the Instructor: Jonathan English is excited to start a community group that explores a variety of educational ideas and techniques. As a former homeschooler and graduate of St. John’s College Great Books classics program, he has long had an interest in learning how to learn and how to help others along the way. He has experience teaching in public schools, private schools, and homeschool academies with all age levels and subjects. He has worked closely with an MAT program to develop this course of reading that will increase civic dialogue to improve the educational experience for all. Footprints in the Snow - George Washington’s Continental Army of 1776

Wednesday, February 28 — 7:00—8:00 PM

Community Room

In-Person Presentation

This presentation recounts the very real human story of those men who marched with General George Washington in the year of the Declaration of Independence. This was the year when the entire American cause was depending on their success, without which all possibility for independence would have been crushed and the sacred ideals of the Declaration would have amounted to simply words on a worthless piece of paper. This is the story of Americans in the ranks of the army, men of every size, shape, and color, simple farmers, teachers, tradesmen, and mere boys turned into soldiers. These were the men that stayed with the Army and did not quit. They stayed because their commanding officer, General George Washington did not quit!

Presenter: Michael Jesberger is an independent military historian who specializes in the American Revolution and Civil War time periods. He is a member of numerous history-based organizations and active in the reenactment community.
