The Texas legislative session has officially begun! We are so blessed to have legislators like Sen. Bryan Hughes and Rep. Jacey Jetton who are so open and accessible to us. They'll be on next Friday to give you an insiders update on what has happened so far and what to expect in the weeks to come. 

In addition to our friends in the legislature, we are going to be hearing from special guest Jonathan Butcher (Click here for bio). Jonathan is an education expert at the renowned Heritage Foundation. He is going to be able to speak to education reform efforts across the country and the controversy around Critical Race Theory (CRT). Leftists continue to use public institutions to push their radical agendas and public education is a primary target. 

Education is going to be a focus this session. I can't wait to hear about what we can learn from other states, the legislative goals for education reform here in Texas, and specifically what we can do to keep CRT out of our schools.

Is The Border Secure? No.

Biden's border crisis continues to set records and only gets worse by the day. 

What you need to know:

• Customs and Border Protection data shows 233,710 illegal immigrants were apprehended attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in November.
• ​​​13,150 unaccompanied children were apprehended.
• At least 21 people on the terror watchlist have been apprehended trying to enter the U.S. between ports of entry so far this fiscal year.
• 142,038 illegal immigrants were apprehended from countries outside the Northern Triangle and Mexico, showing that Biden’s crisis is global.
• 5.3 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since Biden took office. 
• Illicit drugs are flowing into the country at an alarming rate.
• Nearly 2,900 pounds of deadly fentanyl and  10,722 pounds of methamphetamine were seized at the southern border in November alone, with much more likely getting through.
• The DEA seized enough fentanyl in 2022 to kill every person in the U.S. 
• Homeland Security Investigations estimates that Mexican cartels are now making $13 billion a year smuggling illegal immigrants into the U.S, 26 times what they made in 2018.
• Finally, two years into his presidency, it appears Joe Biden will visit the border for a photo op. But this visit is not concrete action to secure our country. 
• This will be his first time in his 40+ year career that he will visit the border. 
• Instead of visiting the border, up until now, Biden spent 282 days, or 40% of his presidency, on vacation. 
• In Biden’s first 100 days he took more than 94 executive actions on immigration, including  halting construction of the border wall and ending the Trump administration’s successful “Remain in Mexico” policy.
• Biden’s “big new plan” is to abdicate responsibility, announce an appointment service for illegal immigrants, refuse to call the crisis a “crisis,” defend his failed border czar Kamala Harris, and bash Title 42.
• Americans are witnessing crisis at the border month after month thanks to Biden’s reckless open border policies.

The bottom line:

In order to start fixing the problem, Biden needs to admit the border is not secure, acknowledge the destruction he's caused, apologize for his repeated lies about the border, and fire Mayorkas and relieve Harris as border czar. 

Biden's Worst Jobs Report Of The Year

Americans are struggling to afford basic goods as their paychecks continue to shrink under Bidenflation. 

What you need to know:

• Today’s jobs report is the worst jobs report of the year and tied the worst jobs report of the Biden presidency.
• Inflation ate up any wage gains in December, meaning workers are seeing a massive pay cut under Biden. 
• The economy added just 223,000 jobs in December. 
• Working-class families are facing a major pay cut. 
• The annual wage growth is now at its lowest in over a year while October and November also saw downward revisions.
• Real average hourly earnings fell 1.9% since last year, marking the 20th month in a row under Biden in which inflation has outpaced wages.
• Real wages have fallen every month since Biden and Democrats passed their wasteful $1.9 trillion “stimulus.”
• Key inflation indicators show higher prices are here to stay under Biden.
• November’s Consumer Price Index soared by 7.1% compared to last year, remaining excessively high.
• November’s Producer Price Index rose by 7.4% since last year.
• Republican-led states are the ones creating jobs and leading the economic recovery.
• Through November, 9 of the top 10 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and all 10 states have Republican-controlled legislatures.
• Out of the top 10 states with the lowest unemployment rates, 9 are led by Republican governors.

The bottom line:

American families are suffering under Biden’s failed economic agenda of higher taxes, soaring inflation, shrinking savings, and falling real wages. Americans are paying more and earning less and Biden and the Democrats don't care. Luckily with a new Republican majority in the House and strong state Republican leadership, Biden and Democrats will be held accountable for their out-of-control spending.
