Welcome to Redeemer Life!
We are happy to share that Associate Pastor Candidate, Pastor Andrew (Drew) Bayless and his wonderful family have safely arrived from St. Louis and are enjoying a very full weekend here in Spokane Valley!

The staff spent the day with Pastor Drew, Ashley, Judah and Kaden today. Tomorrow afternoon, the Bayless' will be getting a full tour of our beautiful city from Rich and Erica Barton after spending the morning with our Call Committee and Board of Directors.

On Sunday, Pastor Drew will be delivering the message at both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services and we hope you will join us in our Worship Center. A Q&A session will follow each service. For those unable to attend in person, we've set up a process to take questions online. You can submit your questions by either texting them to (509) 939-1137 or simply dropping them into the comments section on any of our online platforms -- Facebook, YouTube, or redeemeralive.org -- during the Worship service. We're asking you to phrase your questions as displayed in the graphic below. Thank you and see you Sunday!

Redeemer Ministry Spotlight
This week we'd like to introduce you to Kalee Horlacher. Kalee radiates God's light as she guides our youngest members to walk in Jesus' footsteps. She grew up at Redeemer and is now raising her own young family at Redeemer. We are thankful that Kalee calls Redeemer home.

Please enjoy our candid conversation with Kalee.
What is your full name?
Kalee Horlacher

Family Stats?
Married to Tim, mama to Jackie (8), Ezra (5), and Josie (3). We also have a doggo named Beaumont (lovingly referred to as Beau Beau the Potato). If I'm honest, our chickens and ducks are also part of the family!

How long have you been a member of Redeemer?
Most of my life! Shout out to my first Sunday School teachers, Marcia Tract and Barb Sanders, for being amazing women of God and for helping me to understand God's love for me...and for putting up with some seriously unruly classes. Ha! (Sorry).

What do you enjoy most about serving others?
I am a firm believer that God will call you where He wants you and that He will provide you with the gifts that you need to serve in that calling. I feel more connected to my God when I follow His call. I also love to bask in God's light. Serving others helps me to do that. The truly amazing thing is that I get to invite others to bask in that same light with me in the spaces where God has called me to serve! Sharing the gospel is cool!

Tell us a little about your ministries?
Here at Redeemer my favorite opportunity has been bringing the children's message during Sunday School. Helping children understand God's love for them is a complete gift and I am so grateful I get to be a tiny part of a child's journey with Christ. I have also served as a department leader for VBS. I love working with, training, and encouraging our teachers and leaders! Then I get to watch the real magic as those leaders go out and show a gaggle of kids a glimpse of what the Kingdom of God is like. It's a treasure and it's completely holy ground! I also have the privilege of being a Stephen Minister, which is a one-on-one caring ministry here at Redeemer.

Who inspires you?
Kids!

If you could choose anyone as a mentor, who would you choose?
I've had some pretty amazing mentors, many here at Redeemer. JoAnn McCoy and Colleen Gulseth have always been women I have looked up to and they have helped me to grow in faith and as a person. In ministry, both Dave Noll and Kent McDonald (Regional Director for Young Life) have been been role models and have helped me to learn and grow as a minister of the Gospel. I didn't choose any of those folks, but I know God placed them in my life for good reason.

What is something (a fun fact) about you that most people don't know?
I finished my masters in theology in my third trimester of pregnancy with my first son. I count it as a miracle.

If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Kale salad.

What is your go-to Bible verse?
Isaiah 41:10 in the Message: "Don't panic. I'm with you. There's no need to fear for I'm your God. I'll give you strength. I'll help you. I'll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you."

Thank you for sharing with us today, Kalee. God's light shines brightly through you and it brings us great JOY to see His love reflected onto the children you shepherd and mentor.

A Message from...
 Senior Pastor Dave Noll
Happy Friday Friends,

You all know I'm a fisherman. When the temperature is right. When the bait fish are in the area. When the current is at just the right speed. All the fish come together in a CONFLUENCE and the bite starts!

Today I don't want to talk about fishing -- well I do, but I won't. I want to talk about Redeemer because we are at a confluence when all the good things are coming together to produce a fruitful and valuable experience in the life of our church.

Over the next several weeks, you will see and feel this confluence of good come together.
  • This week Pastor Drew Bayless is visiting as part of our Associate Pastor Call process.
  • Later this month, you'll begin to see our plans for building improvements put into action with a new roof and HVAC system.
  • Our vision for building COMMUNITY in the 30+ acres behind Redeemer, will begin moving from pure vision to an actionable plan outlining real possibilities.
  • Our Ministry Staff will reveal what Worship might look like in the post-pandemic church. You will see creative, data-driven plans for traditional, contemporary and online worship options.

It is a time of CONFLUENCE when all of these opportunities are coming together to define this moment in time for Redeemer.

In the Old Testament, Queen Esther had to summon great courage in a time of adversity. A time when her people, the Jewish nation, were oppressed. During this time, her uncle shared some wise words that also apply to you and me today. He said, "Queen Esther, perhaps you are queen for such a time as this." It is God's plan.

Perhaps, you and I are also here at Redeemer for 'such a time as this.' Your gifts and talents. Your resources. And, most importantly, your heart for Jesus, are all here at Redeemer for 'such a time as this.'

I invite you to pray for Redeemer and to be a part of this time of confluence. Perhaps, you are a part of Redeemer for such a time as this... Just like me.

You can enjoy my full Friday message below.

Blessings,
Pastor Dave

COVID-19 Health & Safety Update
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Redeemer has adhered to the health and safety guidelines put in place by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Governor Inslee's Office, and the Spokane Regional Health District. We continue to follow the guidance of these organizations.

Washington state has lifted mask and social distancing restrictions for fully vaccinated people, with just a few exceptions (hospitals, travel on planes, trains and buses).

In general, people are considered fully vaccinated:
  • 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
  • 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine

If you don’t meet these requirements, regardless of your age, you are NOT fully vaccinated.

What does this mean for Worship and ministry events at Redeemer? It means if you are fully vaccinated (per the above), you now have a choice as to whether or not you wear a mask indoors and outdoors. You may also sit with other fully vaccinated people without social distancing.

If you aren't fully vaccinated we ask that you continue to wear your mask and social distance for the protection of yourself and others.

If you have any questions, please call our Church Office (509.926.6363) or connect with Trisha Rountree, Director of Human Resources, at trountree@redeemeralive.org
