Victoria Village, an attainable workforce housing project in Fraser, is moving forward with a potential partnership with the Colorado Headwaters Land Trust to try to preserve a Protected Natural Area on the land.
Victoria Village is a 11.3-acre parcel at the intersection of Park Avenue and Zerex Street. The parcel includes St. Louis Creek and its wetlands/floodplain habitat – essential for Fraser’s ecosystem that includes wildlife and humans. Since a Protected Natural Area cannot be developed on, Fraser chose the Headwaters Land Trust to potentially hold and monitor the area through a conservation easement.
During the town’s Jan. 3 meeting, trustees discussed the idea of an easement with the land trust and the complicated, yet necessary duties of preserving and improving the area.
