Norwalk Community School District Announces Finalists for Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Position

The Norwalk Community School District is excited to announce the three finalists for the position of Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. The Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning is a key figure responsible for overseeing building principals, the Director of Student Services, Teaching and Learning Coordinators, and other support staff. The role is designed to ensure measurable and continuous improvement of student achievement while championing district-wide equity initiatives. The three final candidates have been carefully selected for their extensive experience and proven track records in educational leadership. Each finalist possesses a unique set of skills and qualifications that align with the district's commitment to excellence in education. The finalists for the Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning position are:

Mrs. Carol Eddy, Director of Curriculum & Innovation in the Ankeny Community School District and Interim Principal at Northview Middle School, serves as an instructional leader for both the building and the district. Carol excels as a staff development planner/facilitator, supervisor, and evaluator of staff, and a community liaison. Her data-driven approach involves analyzing data to develop staff learning strategies and mentoring teachers to enhance their teaching methods. She has played a pivotal role in developing and implementing a new Curriculum Review Process. Carol led groups of teachers through unpacking and prioritizing standards, defined proficiency for prioritized standards, and developed finalized curriculum documents.

Mrs. Jen Sigrist, Executive Director at Central Rivers Area Education Agency, has successfully shaped a unifying vision, implemented strategic planning, and overseen regional administrators. Jen's commitment extends to active involvement in Iowa AEA committees, highlighting her dedication to educational excellence. With a decade of experience as the Director of Personalized Learning and Innovation at Van Meter Schools, she spearheaded curriculum adoptions, implemented a multi-tiered support system, and championed competency-based education. Jen's dynamic background, inclusive leadership style, and proven track record position her as an exceptional candidate to drive positive change.

Dr. Stephanie Mishler, Interim Superintendent, has spearheaded strategic initiatives in the Fairfield Community School District, aligning long-range goals with the district's mission and vision. Her dynamic leadership is evident in implementing Program-Based Budgeting, resulting in a prioritized allocation of resources while reducing expenditures by up to $1.5 million. Stephanie has elevated school culture through enhanced visibility, communication, and collaboration. She collaborated with diverse stakeholders to develop and implement the "Portrait of a Trojan," fostering enthusiasm around the Fairfield CSD brand.

Finalist interviews are scheduled for the evening of Thursday, February 8th. Interview teams will be utilized during this process, consisting of parents, administrators, teacher leaders, classroom teachers, and classified staff. A recommendation for hire will go before the Norwalk Board of Directors at the regular board meeting on February 12th. The selected candidate for the position of Norwalk Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning will begin work with the district starting July 1st.
