"Vis Medicatrix Naturae - The Healing Power of Nature"

Deirdre O'Connor

The wild tonic of nature heals us if we are attuned: plants, animals, the earth herself.

Order of Service

Masks are optional in the sanctuary

The theme this month is Interdependence

This Sunday join us for some beautiful handmade paper crafting with Barbara Pagh after service. We will be gluing pieces of handmade paper onto bigger squares to create an ocean scene. All are welcome to come create! Our final product will be hung in the sanctuary for the month of May.

Last Sunday we had 17 kids in RE and played "keep Emmy Bear on the parachute" among other cooperative games. And we made seed balls! Then while the parents had a check-in, the K/1st graders had OWL and the rest of the kids played in the nursery, our middle schoolers decided to play "ground is lava" and worked together for most of an hour making sure they didn't touch the ground. Check out these sweet pictures from our past month.

Announcements!

We have so much going on that it’s easy to miss things things that are important to us. Beginning April 28, each month on the last Sunday we are going to start having an insert in the Order of Service which lists all of the upcoming congregational events, so that we can see everything in one easy place. Post it on your fridge! Please get your submissions to Sara (uucscri@gmail.com) by April 23rd this month, and on the Tuesday before the last Sunday in coming months.

Spring Clean Up at UUCSC

On Saturday April 20th (rain date Sat. 4/27) from 9AM-2PM we will be having a Spring Clean-Up/Fix-Up event at the Church. The Facilities Committee has developed a list of projects, both indoors and outside, that we feel could be completely accomplished if we can get least 15-20 people (ages 12 and up) to help. Snacks/lunch provided. Contact Michael Bilecki (mbilecki@yahoo.com) to sign up, and see this space for details in the coming weeks.

One More New to UUCSC class this Sunday, April 21!

The final class of this series will be held after Sunday service on April 21 for those who want to learn more about our congregation, how we function and what makes us tick. The class is strongly recommended for anyone wanting to become a member of UUCSC. If you want to attend the second class but did not attend the first one, please let Val Follett know. She has a booklet for you to read through before the April 21st class. Also, please let Val or Rev. Denis know if you will be attending. A light lunch will be served and we want to have enough food for everyone.

Aging Gracefully

Sunday, April 28 at 11:45 AM in the Sanctuary

None of us is getting any younger. Deb Barton of Eldercare RI will share information and answer questions on how to age in a way that allows us to meet our goals and perhaps even make things a little bit easier for those we leave behind, regardless of our current age.

Semi-Annual Fire Drill

April 28th

Immediately following services

Immediately following services Nancy will blow a whistle to begin the evacuation – quickly, and

silently. If you will want your coat, KEEP it during the service. The drill will be timed. We practice evacuation so in a real-life situation we know exactly how to do so in a timely,

expedient, and orderly manner. Lives could be at stake. Additional information will be given during Sunday announcements. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

May Day Celebration!

May 1st at 4pm in our backyard

Join us for a festive celebration at the height of spring! We will make flower crowns, weave ribbons around the May Pole, play yard games, eat yogurt parfaits topped with berries and drink magically magenta- colored violet lemonade!

Garden Plot Available

I have a garden plot in my backyard, not in use the past few years, and would love to offer it to anyone who wants to plant and harvest in it.

It does need veggies that grow in partial shade, but there are many that work fine. Contact Johnnie Rodriguez at 789-0651, if interested.
