We Are On Our Way

In April of 2020, at the onset of the pandemic, our GVCO Board made the tough, but in hindsight, the proper decision to shut down the GVBL Center. The following month we refocused our commitment to making the new GVCO Community Center become a reality.

GVCO is excited to announce that we are scheduled to be breaking ground for the new GVCO Community Center late this month.

Although we have yet to raise the necessary funding to complete the entire complex, our GVCO Board felt that getting a portion of the complex operational was imperative so programming for our community could continue.

As we start the 1st phase of the building, we will restart the GVBC capital campaign. We have chosen Meridian Bank as our financing partner for the initial phase of the project. Since we have all the necessary regulatory approvals and engineering complete, you will see the bulldozers begin moving dirt within weeks.
The escrow check has been posted with the township and construction budget has been finalized with the hope that the building will begin to come out of the ground as the new school year begins. Our next goal is to raise the remaining monies to fill the thermometer that has been on the GVCO website these past years.

GVCO CHOOSES LOCAL COMMUNITY BANK & LONG TIME PARTNER FOR NEW GVCO COMMUNITY CENTER PROJECT

GVCO recently announced it has chosen Meridian Bank to handle its financing needs with our new GVCO Community Center project. An appraisal of the property has been ordered and our GVCO Board, along with MacElree Harvey, Ltd are finalizing the terms of the loan. IMC Construction, GVCO’s general contractor, is finalizing the construction budget and timeline for Meridian.

Our GVCO Board felt it was important to choose a local banking partner who also has a vested interest in our Great Valley community. Meridian was a logical choice beyond the outlined initial terms. Chris Annas, the bank's founder has long-lasting ties to our community and GVCO…having lived here and his kids participating in GVCO programming. Meridian was also the bank chosen back in 2005 when GVBL needed a Letter of Credit in order to open the old GVBL Center on Bacton Hill Rd.

GVCO looks forward to continuing to work with our long time banking partner Meridian Bank, to bring this wonderful community asset, the new GVCO Community Center to fruition for entire community to enjoy.

GVCO Caring Hands

A Great Year of Service to our Community!

THANK YOU to all of our volunteers for service projects and fund raising that has allowed GVCO Caring Hands to accomplish so much during such a challenging time! Thanks also to Caroline Getz and Julia Dill for their leadership over the last year!

We had a busy year so far:

·    GVCO donated $1000 per month locally to individuals and organizations in our community.
·    Teamed up the Chester County Food Bank to creatively decorate food boxes for Senior Citizens.
·    Donated $1000 to the Home of the Sparrow toward their mission to provide housing, education and support for homeless women and children in Chester County.
·    Purchased lunches during the month of May for the vaccine clinic volunteers of The Clinic, PA, providers free medical care for those in need in the area.
·    Planted and delivered 150 pots of flowers to the residents of Green Meadows Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Caring Hands through volunteerism, leadership, and community service.
  • ·    At our annual fundraiser, GVCO friends and family enjoyed a great selection of craft beers and pizza courtesy of Locust Lane and Mezzaluna Wood Fired Pizza. A portion of the proceeds were donated to GVCO raising nearly $1000 from this event.
  • ·    And continued to support local GVSD families who are currently struggling to make ends meet.

As we wrap up the school year, our Caring Hands volunteers will be helping with the Malvern Shredding Event/Collection for the Chester County Food Bank on Saturday, June 12th.

Thanks again to all who participated, shopped & donated to support GVCO Caring Hands and our community!!

Summer Tutoring

This school year brought with it many challenges. Students should be looking to finish this school year as strong as possible while any academic deficiencies need to be addressed to ensure future success.

This summer presents an opportunity for students of all ages to catch up on any school subjects they have fallen behind on, especially in cumulative courses like math, where each prior year builds on the last. Whether your student needs to catch up on course content, or get a head start on preparing for the SAT/ACT, contact us to set up a call to discuss their academic situation and what Ivy Experience can do to support them.

GVCO Donor Spotlight
Richard E. Schoeninger

I am a lifelong resident of Chester County and would not live anywhere else. My two children, Allison and Drew, went through the Great Valley School system from 1 - 12th grade. My wife, Danielle, was the Director of Special Education for the school district and now is the Co Director of Human Resources at the CCIU. My son played in the GVCO basketball league and I coached his team. It was a great experience for him and me as well.

I was an avid tennis player, but in recent years have gravitated to Pickleball as my sport of choice. I became involved with GVCO through Pickleball. I enjoyed helping new players learn how to play the game and watching new players become avid participants. When we started out, we had about 25 players. Since then, we have over had 200 players who have come to the old GVCO gym to pick up the game. It was great to see the success of a new program and to join a group of people who managed the growth and administration of the sport in our facility.
I also wanted to contribute monetarily to help build a new facility for not just Pickleball, but all the activities the GVCO offers. The community desperately needs this organization to help our community. GVCO is coming close to opening this facility, but still needs contributions.
