Car Line Expectations
As we welcome more families on campus after spring break, and with new traffic updates like the Mays extension, we share car line expectations to bring everyone up to speed.
|
-
Car tags: With PikMyKid, we enter students via their car tag number. The numbers are small on the tags, so be sure to prop them up where we can see them easily! This helps us put students in the right order to speed up the pickup process.
-
The car line entrance is off of Mays St. We ask that families drive up via Mays rather than the service road entrance.
- Please do not merge from the orange or green line to the yellow line.
-
Even with the Mays extension, left turns onto Mays are not allowed when leaving Meridian because of traffic safety. Visibility is very poor with oncoming traffic. It remains a right turn only exit.
-
Turn off your car engine when idling when possible. It's healthier for our students' lungs as they wait to be picked up.
- Please drive by our crossing guards slowly and with care. Wait to drive until crossing guards give you the go ahead, especially at the Mays crosswalk. Give people plenty of space with your vehicle.
-
When out of your vehicle: cross only at the crosswalks that have Meridian staff and volunteers directing traffic. Listen and wait for their cues before crossing the street. They have perfected the balance of safety and efficiency!
-
For secondary pick up, please wait to move forward until 3:55 pm / 1:25 pm Wednesdays. You will be asked to drive around again if you move forward early so that we can finish primary dismissal.

Coming back to Campus for Q4?
-
You will use PikMyKid to check in each morning with a daily health screen.
- Your child will wear a face mask at school, and we recommend bringing an extra one in a plastic bag in their backpack just in case they need a clean one throughout the day.
- Water bottle refill stations are available; have your child bring a water bottle to school each day.
- School meals continue to be free for all students every day. Breakfasts start at 7:30 am. Please arrive before 7:45 for breakfast; drop off at the Green Line if eating at the primary cafeteria.
-
You can find uniform guides here. New this year (not in the guides) is the ability to wear jeans every day. Grades 9-12 can wear black polos with the lion logo as well.
- Car tags will be mailed over spring break.

Return of School-owned Devices
As we look into the fourth quarter, we ask families who checked out school-owned devices, but whose students are learning on-campus, to consider returning them to school this week or at the start of the 4th quarter.
We will need more devices on campus as our on-campus numbers grow. If you return your device and need to switch to distance learning during the 4th quarter, we will be able to check out your child’s in-person device to take home for that period of distance learning.
Please return the device and charger together. They should be placed in a bag and can be brought in your child’s backpack or dropped off at the front office during business hours (7:30 am – 4 pm).
