Join our online Zoom Fellowship Hour after the service on Sundays (around 12:00).

Join us at 11:30 (or immediately following the service) for an in-person fellowship with coffee, beverages, and treats in Fellowship Hall. Food and drink are now allowed within the church building, and masks are still encouraged when not eating or drinking.

RECURRING WEEKLY EVENTS
Thank you to those who have already submitted their nominations for UUCUC members to serve on the settled minister search team. We have heard from approximately 12% of our congregation and the Board of Trustees has committed to a 20% benchmark! Please add your voice by sharing the name(s) who you believe will represent "us" well! If you haven't made a recommendation already, please take a moment right now via this nomination form. The form will remain open until Sunday, May 1.

We will also have a table setup at the church during Sunday services for those members and friends who prefer to make a recommendation using the printed form. Board members will be on hand to answer questions and receive your nominations.

For your reference, a recent directory of member names has been linked within the form. Thank you in advance for your assistance and please, if you have any questions, contact Board of Trustees chair, Becky Densmore, at chair@uucuc.org.

JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, April 17, 2022.

From Sam Beshers: Hope springs eternal.

From Claudia Gross: Today is my birthday. It is my third Easter birthday. On my first Easter birthday I was six years old and won the Easter costume contest. On my second Easter birthday I was 16 years old and becoming very political. I knew then that my third Easter birthday would happen, but I would be a very old lady. I guess I am a very old lady and I really do love having an Easter birthday.

From Doug Jones: Teresa, my wife, had SVT Ablation arthroscopic heart surgery on April 4th. It went as well as could be hoped for. The next day, she had minor cold/flu symptoms that gradually got worse. April 11th she tested positive for covid and my brother and I tested negative. I started having symptoms April 14th and tested positive 2 days later. Sunday 4/17/2022, I had monochromal antibody infusion and I am feeling better. Coincidentally, my two nephews attended a concert in Austin, TX. They have both tested positive with minor symptoms. My brother in Texas has tested positive with mild symptoms and hopes to get monochromal antibody infusion soon. Thankfully we all are triple vaccinated and so far symptoms have been mild. The absence of severe grief is in a way a joy! Or at least a reason to be thankful.

From Elisabeth Larson: My grandmother was diagnosed with colon cancer.
Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.

SOCIAL ACTION OFFERING FOR APRIL 2022
RACES is the only agency dedicated to serving the needs of survivors of sexual violence in Champaign, Ford, Piatt and Douglas Counties. RACES provides counseling, court advocacy, medical advocacy, and runs a 24 hour Rape Crisis Hotline. Pre-pandemic, the agency provided counseling and advocacy services to more than 225 survivors of sexual assault each year, including supporting more than 75 people annually during the hospital medical exam and evidence collection process. RACES’ services are attuned to the needs of survivors from historically marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals.

Sexual Assault Prevention Education is an important part of the agency’s vision to end sexual violence in our lifetime: pre-pandemic, the educators reached over 4,000 children, youth and adults each year through age-appropriate prevention programs. The agency is working to match these numbers as more in-person interactions become safe. READ MORE
