Student Art reception this Friday 5/6

|
We're excited to host Mercer School's annual art exhibit here at the library this month. Stop by during normal library hours all month to view a variety of work by students of all ages, under the direction of their art teacher Craig Griffin.
Mercer's students invite you to attend an artists' reception this Friday, May 6th at 4:00 to 5:30 PM in the library. You'll have a chance to meet some of the artists and their teacher and enjoy refreshments provided by Mercer School's Culinary Arts students.
We're still waiting to declare a winner in our "When Will It Melt?" contest. As of this writing, our snow pile appears to be about 3 or 4 feet high and almost that wide as well. I expect it to melt in earnest this week, but only time will tell when it will be gone. Follow us on Facebook for video updates.
Happy spring! And fingers crossed that I'm not jinxing us by saying that out loud!

We are now accepting donations for the sale
We love donations of good condition hardcover books, paperback books, children’s books, DVDs, and CDs. We also appreciate board games and puzzles if they are in good condition with all their pieces. We we can only accept workbooks like crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and coloring books if they are in new, unused condition.
We do not accept textbooks, encyclopedias, magazines, outdated medical or other reference books, and “condensed” books. We also cannot accept any items that are moldy or have insect or rodent damage due to the risk of spreading those problems to other books at the library. Thank you!

Kanopy
I'm happy to see that quite a few people signed up for Kanopy during our first month!
The most-watched title by our patrons last month was Lunana: a yak in the classroom, and many of you watched other movies, episodes of The Great Courses, and checked in on Kanopy Kids, too. (As your library director, I get a report on what movies our cardholders streamed -- but don't worry, I can't see who watched them. Your viewing history is confidential, just like all of your library records.)
In case you haven't heard, Kanopy is a video streaming service that provides instant access to thousands of critically acclaimed movies, documentaries and kid favorites. Kanopy partners with studios like A24, The Criterion Collection, PBS, and more. Our subscription also includes access to The Great Courses and Kanopy Kids, a collection of content for ages 2-8.
You can watch on your mobile device or most streaming devices (Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, etc.) with a free app, or visit kanopy.com to watch on your computer. You need a current library card listing Mercer as your home library in order to use Kanopy. If yours doesn't work, give us a call - it could simply be that we need to renew your card.
