Almost There!
Dear International Slugs,

As we approach the end of spring quarter, we wish you strength, focus, health, and success!

We would like to recognize our Sara Mathews Scholarship winners: Elshad Eftekhari, Sam Feng, and Siyu Shen. Congratulations!

We're not done with programs yet! Below, please see some programs offered by Global Programming and our colleagues across campus, such as the upcoming Global Film Showcase, the Global Learning Alumni Dinner, and Kresge Pride. Read on to see what else is happening across campus, and for resources to help you through the rest of the quarter.

Best wishes,
The Global Programming Team
Congratulations to the Sara Mathews Scholarship Recipients!
Three international undergraduate students were selected to receive the Sara Mathews scholarship this spring.

"There were many strong applicants this year. Three candidates stood out to the scholarship selection committee due to their campus involvement, dedication to sharing and exploring cultures, and impressive academic records."

Campus Events & Resources
The UC Undergraduate Experience Survey is about being a student at UCSC -- your academic work, access to classes, satisfaction with advising and campus services, and future plans.

Your responses help improve life for students by giving important feedback to academic programs and campus student services. All undergraduate students at UCSC and other UC campuses are invited to participate in UCUES every other spring.

Students who complete the survey will be eligible for prize drawings of gift cards, ranging from $50 - $200.
Join the Practical Activism Planning Team
Want to help plan a student-led conference on social justice next school year?

Attend an info session to learn how you can get involved with planning the 20th annual Practical Activism Conference as you fulfill the PR GE requirement!

All Banana Slugs are invited to join. The remaining info sessions are as follows:

  • Wednesday, May 11 at 13:30 Pacific Time (in-person at the Coco)
Cowell Coffee Shop: Grad Student Hours
Date: Mondays & Thursdays
Time: 16:30 - 21:00 Pacific Time

Pursuing a graduate degree is financially challenging. According to the UCSC BLUM Center, 31% of UCSC PhD students experienced food insecurity in 2017.

Although graduate students are welcome to come into the coffee shop during normal hours, there can be a stigma of using an undergraduate-focused space.

To cater directly to our graduate students, we’re hosting Graduate Student Hours to de-stigmatize the coffee shop and better support graduate students. Only graduate students will be served during this time! We’ll be serving (free!) coffee, tea, bagels, and a different snack each week.
