Class Schedule & Locker Information

Class schedules and locker information will be available after 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 11.

Once students have been assigned a schedule, there will be NO schedule changes for required courses except for the following reasons with priority given to seniors:

1.      A student has failed the class and needs to repeat the class.

2.      The student needs the class for graduation – Grade 12 only.

3.      The student is scheduled for a class for which he/she has already received credit.

4.You did not request the course.

5.You did not get your requests during scheduling.

The last day for schedule changes is Monday, Aug. 29.

If a student would like to request to change an elective course, the link below should be used. Emailing and/or calling the office will only delay the process of getting to your request.

First Day of School

The first day of school for students is Thursday, August 18, 2022. Please make a note of this date. We look forward to another great school year here at Cooper. It's hard to believe this will begin our 15th year! We are busy preparing in anticipation of August 18th.

School Bus Routes

Our transportation department has been working diligently this summer to route our busses in the most efficient and effective way possible. If your student is riding the bus to and/or from school, we encourage you to get the most updated information from the bus route system, Edulog.  This link can be found on the Boone County Schools webpage under Quick Links and School Bus Routes.

For quick reference, click on the following link:

School Bus Routes.

Special Programs:

Students that are in special programs such as vocational school, Early College, Ignite, Homebuilders, Fire/EMT, etc. will board the assigned bus. If your student rides the bus or is a car rider, they should come into the cafeteria area and wait until their bus is ready. The special programs busses depart at 7:25.  For the first few days, we will make announcements when those busses are ready for boarding until everyone gets the timing down of when to board.

No Items Dropped Off

A reminder that we do not accept items dropped off during the school day. This does include backpacks, lunchboxes, homework, PE clothes, extracurricular items, projects, etc. The only exception is medication, eye and dental wear.

We do understand this will be an adjustment for some, but the lesson learned will far outweigh the relief of rescuing them. Please help us help our students become self-sufficient and responsible before they transition to post-secondary education and/or career.

Campus Traffic Flow

The north parking lot entrance will be closed each day, 6:00-7:45 a.m. & 2:15-3:00 p.m.

The parent/student drop off in front of the school will be a double lane drop off zone which turns this into a one-way only during the timeframe of 7:00-7:40 a.m.  Please DO NOT drop off your student in the parking lot.  This creates a dangerous situation with young drivers trying to find their parking space and student drivers and staff that are walking in the parking lot to enter the building.

Student drivers should ONLY enter through our main campus entrance and proceed to the south end parking lot entrance. Any other entrance will create more of a back-up in traffic due to left turns.

Don't confuse the north parking lot entrance closure with a campus road closure.  None of our campus roads will be closed, only the north parking lot entrance.

See the parking lot map below for a visual.

Lunch Account & Schedule

There is a convenient way to deposit money into your student's breakfast and lunch account via online! You can also track the purchases your student is making on a daily basis.

There is a service fee to use this online option. Breakfast and lunch is offered to all students this year at no charge as part of the pandemic relief at the federal government level.

There will be a variety of a la carte items for students to choose from including chips, cookies, and a coffee bar.

To use this option, follow the link below.

My School Bucks

Lunch occurs during 4th period with three lunch times of 11:01; 11:31 and 12:01.

Water Bottle Refills

We have water bottle refill stations throughout the school at each water fountain for our students and staff! Water bottles need to be transparent/see-through.

Homework 101

High school means more classes to juggle--and more homework assignments to manage. Help your teen be successful in school by getting into a good homework routine and sticking with it. The result will be better grades and strong time-management skills and organizational skills to carry throughout life. To find more suggestions, click here.

Start & End Times

The first day of school is Thursday, Aug. 18th. The official start time is 7:40 a.m. and official end time is 2:25 p.m. for bus riders and 2:35 p.m. for student drivers and car riders.

We encourage students to be in the building by 7:25 a.m. in order to get to their locker and in class before 7:40 a.m. Students in special programs such as EMT, Fire, Home Builders, vocational school, etc. should be here by 7:15 a.m. as busses for special programs leave at 7:25 a.m.

*Note: our building opens @ 7:00 a.m. for parent drop off and student drivers. Students will remain in our commons/cafeteria area until 7:25 a.m. At 7:25 a.m., students will be released to the academic wings and have access to their lockers to gather items for class.

Parent drop-off and pick-up is at the main entrance rotunda.

College & Career Coach

We have a new College and Career Readiness Coach, Ms. Jennifer Smith.  She will be working with the majority of the seniors as well as all other grades in regards to planning and providing college and career opportunities throughout the school year. If your student would prefer to remain with their current counselor for their senior year (Matthew Dryden: A-G, Lesley Vickers: H-O, Stacey Guthrie: P-Z), please sign up here.

This request will be on a first come, first served basis, with a cap of 30 for each counselor. In the event a counselor doesn't reach the cap, we will randomly assign students to reach 30 per counselor. The deadline to request to remain with your current counselor will be September 1st or until the cap is reached, whichever comes first.

Cellphones

While most students have cellphones, they can be distraction in the education setting.  Our school and classroom expectation is we don't want to see or hear cellphones. Some classrooms will ask students to place their phone in a designated pocket area in the front of the classroom while others have baskets or other designated areas for place the phone. Whatever the case my by, we want students focused and engaged in the learning and interaction of the class.

Open House

On August 12 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. our building will be open for students and families to walk around to find their classrooms and locker.  Parking pass forms that were pre-approved and paid for in advance will be available for pick up during this time.    Ensure that your student brings their schedule and locker number.

The Great RC School Spirit Store will be open for purchases.

Our main office will not be open during this time.

Camp Jaguar-Freshman

Camp Jaguar for our incoming freshmen is coming up on Friday, Aug. 12, 8-12 noon.

This will be a great day for your freshman student to feel more comfortable about high school, build friendships, find their classes, open their locker, opportunities to get involved and many other essential things to make the transition to Cooper as smooth as possible! Students are paired with their Freshman Mentoring Group and Leader. This group will be together throughout the school year during J.A.M. (Jaguar Achievement & Mentoring) time.

Students receive a free t-shirt as well as lunch in addition to making connections with other freshman students and mentors.  This is your last chance to register your incoming freshman for this event, if you haven't done so already.
