RECURRING WEEKLY EVENTS
Thank you to those who have already submitted their nominations for UUCUC members to serve on the settled minister search team. We have heard from approximately 12% of our congregation and the Board of Trustees has committed to a 20% benchmark! Please add your voice by sharing the name(s) who you believe will represent "us" well! If you haven't made a recommendation already, please take a moment right now via this nomination form. The form will remain open until Sunday, May 1.

We will also have a table setup at the church during Sunday services for those members and friends who prefer to make a recommendation using the printed form. Board members will be on hand to answer questions and receive your nominations.

For your reference, a recent directory of member names has been linked within the form. Thank you in advance for your assistance and please, if you have any questions, contact Board of Trustees chair, Becky Densmore, at chair@uucuc.org.

Please consider donating to the Little Free Pantries run by Julie Laut (Urbana) and AJ Herzog (Champaign), which they have maintained year-round since March 2020. Their Amazon wish list has been updated to include unique summer items. The wishlist can be sorted to identify high priority items. All orders sent through Amazon are delivered to Julie's house and split between the two pantries. You are also welcome to drop off items in person at both locations. Questions? JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, April 24, 2022.

From Sam Beshers: I got to lead eight runners over the finish line of the River to River Relay, six of them doing it for the first time, including Chris Hannauer and Steve Troyer.

From Rev Karen Bush: A deep sorrow for the death on Friday of Gretchen Klein who had been living with ALS for 2 years - Gretchen was a local massage therapist who took care of many people for years including Rev KB. She was a very special light in our world.

From Peggy Patten & Todd Kinney: Brigette Pieke, longtime UUCUC member, travels to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis next week to begin treatment for tonsil cancer. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts.

From Andy Robinson: Joy to visit my mom in the hospital this afternoon. Today is a good day.
Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.

SOCIAL ACTION OFFERING FOR MAY 2022
The Lakota Law Project was started in 2004 when a group of Lakota grandmothers asked for an investigation of South Dakota Social Services, which was removing large numbers of Lakota children from their homes. The Lakota Child Rescue Project found that social services had a pattern of drugging and removing native children from their families, and subjecting them to mental and physical abuses in foster care, leading to high levels of youth suicides. This first project continues today, along with several others.
SOCIAL ACTION OFFERING FOR APRIL 2022
RACES is the only agency dedicated to serving the needs of survivors of sexual violence in Champaign, Ford, Piatt and Douglas Counties. RACES provides counseling, court advocacy, medical advocacy, and runs a 24 hour Rape Crisis Hotline. Pre-pandemic, the agency provided counseling and advocacy services to more than 225 survivors of sexual assault each year, including supporting more than 75 people annually during the hospital medical exam and evidence collection process. RACES’ services are attuned to the needs of survivors from historically marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals.

Sexual Assault Prevention Education is an important part of the agency’s vision to end sexual violence in our lifetime: pre-pandemic, the educators reached over 4,000 children, youth and adults each year through age-appropriate prevention programs. The agency is working to match these numbers as more in-person interactions become safe. READ MORE
