S&E Prayer and Praise January 2023
A New Year Already - with it's own challenges!
Along with the beginning of a new year, and saying goodbye to a prior year, sometimes we have what feels like challenges or even "trials". Sometimes, these challenges can take the form of sickness, frustration or feelings of inability, or even uncertainty. This past month or so, our family has had a variety of sickness and other challenges. Recently, as I was sharing some of my frustrations, and my own physical challenges, with a brother in Christ, he reminded me of 1 Peter 1:1-6. It was an encouragement to me as we read through it.
1 Peter 1:1-6 reads:
1"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials."
To be reminded to get my eyes back on Christ was encouraging, convicting and relieving. While I was dealing with something that in some respects was more of a frustration than a "trial", it was causing my eyes to be on myself rather than my Lord. That passage continues in verse seven with the words: "These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed."

As God's created beings, our entire existence here on earth is for ONE purpose - to give HIM glory. May we ALL be reminded that no matter how difficult our situations may be perceived at the moment, if we have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, our eternal position is sure - THROUGH HIM - IN HIM, and WITH HIM! To God - Be the Glory!
Last month, we introduced the plans for the 2023 Summer Team. Please pray for God's providence - not only for the financial needs but also for the PEOPLE He wants to serve in these roles this year. Summer ministries like this can be great opportunities for young people to use their gifts and abilities in the context of ministry and can often get them even more excited about serving our Lord more effectively.
We are looking for a hand-selected group that not only can help S&E with some special projects but who we can also partner with as they grow in their own walk with Christ and the opportunities He gives to serve Him together.
This is a paid position that lasts 10 weeks (roughly early June to early August). Please be praying with us that the Lord of the harvest will provide the people HE wants to serve through S&E this Summer.
Some of the projects on schedule for 2023 may include (but not limited to) video recording, editing, website development, WordPress Theme development, computer data management, archival and historical writing and documentation, language translation of existing materials, original content development, network wiring, social media development and a variety of other opportunities.
