Jewelry That Makes You Think.
TICKETED EVENT
Thursday, December 9, 3 p.m. EST
Please note the special time.

You won't want to miss this behind-the-scenes peek into the jewelry archives of the Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum—an AJF exclusive! Andrea Low, the museum’s associate curator of contemporary world, and Grace Lai, curator of applied arts and design, will give us a tour of a selection of the museum’s iconic pieces. You’ll see art jewelry by Warwick Freeman, Lisa Walker, Kobi Bossard, Elena Gee, and so many more artists.

The Auckland Museum has a fascinating collection that tells the story of New Zealand and its people through adornments—from Selu tuiga (Samoan head combs) and necklaces to kākahu (Māori cloaks) and rākau Māori (Māori weaponry). The museum owns pieces as old as 900 AD and some made as recently as this year.

Don’t miss this exciting, jewelry-rich event—an AJF Live exclusive!

For a minimum $20 donation, you can be part of this end-of-year campaign and interactive AJF Live event. At the same time, you'll help support all of the free programming and editorial content that you rely on throughout the year.

AJF & The Jewelry Library Present Jewelry Stories Live for NYCJW
November 18, 2021, 12:30 p.m. EST

AJF is partnering with The Jewelry Library (TJL) for an online storytelling event—Jewelry Stories Live. Community members Kerianne Quick, Sogand Nobahar, Liesbeth den Besten, Dierra Jones, Melody Drummond Hansen, Raissa Bump, and Jane Partner will share their stories based on this year’s NYCJW theme, “The Power of Jewelry.”

Jewelry has been a tool for storytelling for centuries—stories of love, loss, friendship, family, identity, connection, community, and empowerment that attest to jewelry’s enduring power. In our time, these stories help us to reflect, connect, cope with uncertainty and isolation, and even spur us to action!

Come hear an international roster of storytellers (live from their living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens) share their tales about relationships with jewelry—from the poignant to the hilarious and everything in between!
