News, Honors & Achievements from AMD Middle School

Principal's Update

Hey everyone! Dr. Nover here. Happy Friday!

First and foremost, I would like to remind everyone that we will begin our New York State ELA exam on Tuesday, April 30th. Please ensure that your child arrives at school on time. The exam will begin promptly at 8:04 AM. All students practiced going to their test locations on Thursday, April 25th.

Thank you to Ms. Blye for coordinating virtual author visits for some afternoons during our test days.

I want to continue to reiterate to families the importance of setting boundaries around social media usage. It is very clear based on conversations with students that they are being targeted with concerning information through these platforms. Please continue to speak with your student about healthy boundaries around the times they are on their phones and the applications that they are using. As a reminder, students must be 13 or older to access social media. However, this does not guarantee that they are not being inundated with messages that are concerning and lead to inappropriate behaviors within our school environment.

As always, thank you for your partnership and please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything. Have a wonderful weekend! I hear the warm weather is on the horizon!

With gratitude,

Nicole Mangiere Nover, Ed.D

Principal

Meeting Between the Facilities Director and Two Students

Our Facility Director met with two students who were working on a math project related to air conditioning at AMD. It's amazing that they had the opportunity to learn math while looking at the authentic building plans!

We appreciate Mr. Mance for spending time meeting with the students at AMD!

Mosaic Collages

Mosaic collages are artworks created by arranging small, colorful pieces of materials such as magazine cutouts, glass, tiles, or paper to form a larger image or pattern. In this case, the 6th-grade students at AMD used magazine cutouts to create their unique mosaic collages in Mr. Quiroga's art classes.

Exploring Propulsion Systems in STEM!

Ms. Fonte's class delved into the fascinating world of propulsion systems, understanding how they work, their significance in various fields, and their impact on modern technology and exploration with her class!
