UPDATE:
Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown and TMC Meet Me Downtown
Hello to the folks who have signed up for the 2021 Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown and any of three races that comprise the 2021 three-race series.

We're excited about this year's series of events, but we've had some logistical challenges.

As we hope you know, we've moved the first event, the TMC Meet Me Downtown 5k, to Sunday morning, August 22nd -- so don't come Downtown this weekend!

Virtual Registrants: we will mail your items following the updated race schedule -- so don't expect anything until September or so!

OK -- please read below for an update on the three events of the Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown.

GabeZ TRIPLE CROWN EVENT NEWS
TMC Meet Me Downtown

New Date: Sunday morning, August 22, 2021
TMC Meet Me Downtown 5k Run/Walk & Festival of Miles, now on Sunday morning, August 22nd.

We expect that we can still stage it in the heart of Downtown, with the start/finish in front of the Children's Museum. We're still working out the schedule, but we are planning for food trucks, live music, and an after-party. Everyone will get a free shirt, and we'll have age group awards and prize money available.

This is the first-race of the three-race Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown.

TMC Tucson 10k and companion 5k

Tucson's only fall 10k is back!

Pima Community College, Pima County, and the City of Tucson are all in the midst of agreeing to let us hold this event in person. Cross your fingers and put it on your calendar!

You'll run on the same beautiful course among the rolling hills of the Painted Desert in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains. Tentative schedule:
6:30 am TMC Tucson 10k Start Run/Walk
6:40 am TMC Tucson 5k Start Run/Walk
  • Age group awards courtesy of The Running Shop Prize Money
  • Free Shirt to all runners
  • Live Music

The 2nd leg of the 2021 Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown.

TMC Get Moving Tucson Half Marathon

October 24, 2021
TMC Get Moving Tucson plus Tucson Lifestyle 5k Walk/Run plus Cox Charities Family Mile

We're planning on an in-person event, but we're still not yet sure of the route. Frankly, this has been a difficult year to figure out how to get a good half-marathon route.

We have three location possibilities -- we're leaning towards #3:
1) The traditional A-Mountain route, with variations due to ongoing construction. We want to stay Downtown, but there are a lot of challenges to doing this.
2) On the west side of the Tucson Mountains, near Saguaro National Park West.
3) At the Biosphere2. We really like this choice -- it's beautiful, it's unique, and everyone would get a free entry into the Biosphere2.

However, we cannot get a full half-marathon distance out there. What do you think, would you be heart-broken to do a 15k instead of 13.1 miles?

Let me know what you think at randy@runtucson.net.

Either way, the 3rd leg of the GabeZ Triple Crown will have goodies: medal, cool race shirt, post-race fun, and more!
