Calgary Jewish Federation is proud to celebrate the election of Isaac Herzog as the 11th president of Israel. President-Elect Herzog is well known for his distinguished career in law and politics and for his work as Chairman of the Executive of the Jewish Agency for Israel. Many in our community will recall “Bougie’s” visit to Calgary in September 2019 to launch our community’s UJA Campaign. At that time, he shared a message of global Jewish unity, and commitment to building a diverse and successful gesher hai (living bridge) between Jews in the diaspora and the State of Israel.
How did the average citizen become a Nazi or a collaborator? Human choice and human-made circumstances led to the murder of six million Jews and millions of others. How was it Humanly Possible is a virtual, interactive program led by Yad Vashem, looking at both the historical discipline and moral concern regarding the perpetrators and bystanders of the Holocaust.
