STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
31st Sunday in Ordinary Time

“And ‘to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself’ is worth more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.”  (Mark 12:33)

Of all the gifts that God gives us, the one He wants the most is our heart. He wants us to share out of our love for Him, not out of obligation. Using our talent in parish ministry and contributing money to support our parish mission is important, but it’s more important to spend time in prayer with God daily and discern how He is calling us to be generous with all of our gifts. Not just the visible ones, but the invisible ones like love, mercy and forgiveness.

GIVING

Offertory – At Masses & Online Giving (Weekend of 10/24/21)  $ 19,778.

A most sincere thank you to all families who choose to continue supporting the church through your giving. Your support is crucial and heartfelt. Words fall short in expressing our gratitude. May God bless you for your generosity.

DISASTER RELIEF
October is Respect Life Month and the headlines read:

1.      The ‘Equality Act’ has been passed by the House on 2/25/2021. This legislation is aimed at denying the fundamental differences between men and women.

2.      The ‘Women’s Health Protection Act’ has also been passed by the House. This legislation would allow for unlimited taxpayer funded abortion nationwide.

3.      A Federal Judge, at the request of the Biden administrations’ Justice Department, has blocked the enforcement of Texas recently passed pro- life law restricting abortion once a child’s heart beat can be detected. Coincidently, abortion rights activists in the State claim: Planned Parenthood said the number of patients decreased by nearly 80% in the first two weeks after the legislation took effect.

The picture is not pretty. Many of us (270) signed the letter to the Pope last weekend encouraging him to take Biden to task regarding his stance on abortion. This is great. What else can we do? Simple, we need to pray. We need to pray to St. Joseph as our model for 2021 Respect Life Month.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FIFTH SUNDAY ROSARY PROGRAM

The purpose of the 5th Sunday Rosary Program is to help bring parishioners together in a spiritual activity and promote devotion to Mary. Knights, their families and all other parishioners are encouraged to pray the Rosary as a complete body each time a 5th Sunday occurs during the month. Please join us Sunday, October 31st at 8:30 am prior to the 9:00 am Mass. The time for praying the Rosary will conclude at 8:50 am.

We want to thank all the parishioners who made the Red Cross Blood Drive on October 14 a great success, given all the Red Cross protocols providing donor safety. We collected 110 pints of blood from parishioners and the community at large which will be instrumental in saving many lives.
Please put May 19, 2022 in your calendar as our next Blood Drive.
The World Needs More Knights!

Founded on the principles of Charity, Unity and Fraternity, the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney. Today there are 1.9 million Knights worldwide, and we are looking for a few more to join the 190 Brothers in our Council 13808 here at COKAS.

To that end, we will be hosting an Exemplification of Full Knighthood on Wednesday December 1st at 7PM in the Sanctuary. This is an opportunity for men of our parish to join our ranks and for existing Brothers to become Full Knights. For more information on this Ceremony and becoming a Knight please contact our Membership Director, Rich Bartolotta, at 203 571 8915 or rich.bartolotta1@gmail.com

YEAR OF ST. JOSEPH
Pope Francis’ Prayer to Saint Joseph

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer,
Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you God entrusted his only Son; in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too,
show yourself a father
and guide us in the path of life.
Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage,
and defend us from every evil. Amen.
