New Year, New Beginnings

Happy New Year! We are so excited to announce some major changes in our program. We have been a 6-month program for over 25 years, but as of January 1 of this year, we are now a 12-month program. Clients will live on campus the first 9 months. The last 3 months, they will finish the program as outpatients, maintaining their recovery in their home environment. During the outpatient phase, clients will meet regularly with our treatment staff for relapse prevention groups, and they be required to attend 2 recovery support meetings per week. The program has also been broken down into 5 phases. The new phase chart is shown below.

Every year, we follow-up with all Safe Harbor graduates to see how they are doing and what issues they have encountered. We use this information to evaluate and revise our program model to better prepare our clients for reentering their home environments. It has become obvious over the past years that clients need more time in a structured environment to be successful in long-term recovery. Our data has found the 3 main obstacles clients face are: finding safe affordable housing, obtaining their driver’s license, and finding ongoing support for their recovery. The changes in our program will help them answer these issues.

Please continue to pray for our clients. We believe with a foundation in Christ and being equipped with the right tools, they will be successful in their recovery. They will also set the course for their children to not walk in the same footsteps as they have, because they will become the fathers, mothers, and leaders God created them to be.

Safe Harbor Tipton County is providing an amazing opportunity for men and women to discover who they actually are, away from the chaos of life. Six months ago, I was afforded the opportunity to become the Director at this location. Immediately I became highly aware of the needs of each individual and how life decisions affect everyone in a variety of ways. 

There has been no greater challenge I have faced and no greater reward I've experienced than having to prepare for each day to prepare our clients for success. The excitement of watching men set out to complete what they have started is extraordinary. Coaching clients who are struggling with how to process their emotions and seeing them mature through it is fulfilling.

Each day I get to be part of our staff growing closer to God and fulfilling their mission by serving our clients. Through that we get to see our clients achieve the same progress. Through every phase of growth there is stress and tension, and it is because of this we are made stronger together and discover the ONE who walks with us through it all. 

Celebrating Success

We celebrated the graduation of 24 clients in the 4th Quarter here in Tipton County. Graduation is a celebration of not only their achievements in the Safe Harbor program but also the culmination of personal growth and development. It is a time we reflect on the challenges they overcame and the person they have become.

As they move forward into the next chapter of their lives, they carry with them the experiences and lessons learned, which will undoubtedly serve them well in the future. We are excited to see them going home being the men that God intended them to be!

Partner of the Year - Pacific Manufacturing TN Inc.

Making the choice for Pacific Manufacturing as Partner of the Year was easy to do. They have been a pleasure to work with from the HR department to all the department supervisors. But more importantly it is truly a blessing to partner with a company that believes in our clients and offers them a chance of discovering purpose in their life not only with a job, but possibly a great career!

In 2019 Pacific launched their brand slogan "Passion In Creating Tomorrow" with the aim of creating new value for a sustainable tomorrow by enabling each employee. Allowing them to demonstrate their individual strengths with their passion. As a company, they are truly passionate about creating a safer and more secure future for their employees. 

Baptisms

During the 4th Quarter 25 men were baptized in Tipton County. What an honor to watch these men be born again in Christ. May they continue to grow in their faith!

"Hey I'm Jacob. When I arrived to Safe Harbor I was lost...my first thoughts were to leave. By the grace of God the staff here pulled me under there wing and changed my mind and life completely. 

I was a drug dealer that didn't see no change no time soon, but thanks to Safe Harbor and God, I'm back to me...the person I was before drugs. A person that has dreams and goals in life. A person who wants to help people recover from there addictions, and not supply their addictions.

What is Community?

Community is defined as "a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals."

We are proud of the community we are building, and thankful for the community that is embracing us. Without community support we would not be able to do what we do.

Workwear Outfitters recently blessed Safe Harbor with a large donation of items including pants, shoes, shirts & more. What a difference they have made in the lives of many men & women. The impact they made will go farther than what they will be able to see.

Some of our staff were able to attend Trunk or Treat with Drug Free Tipton County. We are excited to be able to have the opportunity for more outreach in the community.

Staff of the Quarter - Josh Screws

Mr. Screws was afforded the opportunity to work in nearly EVERY department while at Safe Harbor in Bucksnort, TN. He moved to our Tipton County location to be closer to family and has excelled in our Program office.

Mr. Screws is a realist with our clients. He teaches class, maintains consistency and accountability for our staff and clients, and that is why we are highlighting him as our Staff of the Quarter.
