IAWF CONNECT SERIES

Celebrating the International Women's Day




On March 2, 2017 IAWF celebrated the International Women's Day by welcoming Firoozeh Dumas and Yassamin Maleknasr for a networking mixer. One of the vital goals of IAWF is to connect and empower women in our community. IAWF Connect is a regular series that aims to inspire women who have made great contributions on behalf of our community. It was a  night of networking, education and inspiration! Azita Aghravi, an Eastern Consolidated principal since 1998, has been a highly successful commercial sales broker for over 20 years. Over the past twelve years Ms. Aghravi has closed over $1.5 billion of sales of both commercial and residential properties. Ms. Aghravi's particular areas of concentration are elevatored apartment buildings, vacant buildings for hotel or residential development, walk-ups with a strong retail component, office buildings and commercial condominiums. Ms. Aghravi is a member of The Real Estate Board of New York. She is also on the executive board of WIZO USA and is Vice President of the Sephardic Society of Manhattan. IAWF would like to welcome our new Board of Trustee Zohre Elahian.
Zohre Elahian has been actively involved in international development for over 15 years. She is co-founder of Schools Online, a not-for-profit organization that has brought computers to schools and introduced ICT in education in many countries around the world and within the US. As the Managing Director of Global Catalyst Foundation, Ms. Elahian has also evaluated many projects, addressing critical needs in education, ICT and microfinance; her Foundation has provided funding to such projects in many countries. She has also served on the Board of Directors of Relief International for over 8 years working on different developmental and humanitarian projects in countries such as Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan, Jordan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and many other countries. Neda Bolourchi was b orn in Tehran, Iran. She is currently a third year law student studying to be a civil rights attorney. She is the Founder and Executive Director of www.FarsiVoter.com where she has created the only comprehensive and definitive website dedicated solely to educating & empowering Iranian-Americans and all other Farsi speaking voters in California about current elections and voting. As an Election Inspector she saw first hand the dismal turnout of registered Iranian-Americans at the polling places and she wanted to do something about it. she submitted a proposal to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder's office & she was able to persuade them to have their online Sample Ballot Booklets translated into Farsi. Having election materials in Farsi can help to empower our community to take a more active role in the electoral process & to carry out their civic duty as citizens.  Visit Neda's IAWF profile  here.

Anousha Wickser has lived in Los Angeles for over 30 years. Born in Tehran, Iran, Anousha was educated in France as well as America and holds a Bachelors Degree in Business from the University of Southern California and in Fine Art from American University. Anousha speaks three languages fluently and has traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. She has held a variety management positions in banking and real estate as well as a successful career in the hospitality and catering industry. Anousha has devoted significant time and energy to fund raising efforts for educational programs and important charities including the City of Hope, Brandeis University, and the John Wayne Cancer Society. Today, Anousha is also focused on her family and her 13-year-old son as well as continuing her charitable activities and personal investment programs. In all of her ventures, Anousha has excelled as a self starter and creative "can do" marketing professional. She has managed teams of people, supported and initiated corporate relationships, as well as non-profit organizations and community groups.
