1) Your voice can guide the future of education. Complete the CTA & NLI survey
NLI is working with the Cleveland Transformation Alliance to make sure the community's voice is heard as the vision for Quality Education is planned for our young people. Click this link to access a short survey that will add your voice to the process that shapes education for our city's youth. Your input is appreciated!
2) Sign up for summer tennis
NLI once again will manage the City’s Summer Tennis Program and registration is ongoing. This program is for youth looking to learn or develop fundamental tennis skills and runs through July 29th. Parents must complete the registration linked here, to be turned in to instructors at the court of your choice, or your nearest recreation center. Participants should wear athletic shoes and a hat. 3) Another diaper drive scheduled for July
NLI's Community Health team will host its next Drive Through Diaper Distribution event on July 28th from 1-3pm. New Moms and expecting Moms are invited to join us for this outdoor, distanced event that provides goods, services and valuable resources for mothers and children! Stay tuned for more information and registration links.

High Schoolers interested in technology should check out these tech camp opportunities coming up in July. Virtual and In-Person camps are offered.

AmeriCorps Opportunities
The AmeriCorps team at College Now works with Advisors and school-based staff to guide students through postsecondary exploration and preparation. AmeriCorps members celebrate diversity, creatively problem-solve, and embrace teamwork while preparing students for thriving and productive lives that contribute to the region's economic vitality.

NLI SPOTLIGHT: Dr. Jimeka Holloway
Jimeka Holloway is the Area Director for Mission Increase Northeast Ohio, a collaborative foundation that works to increase the social impact of faith-based organizations in Northeast Ohio. She is also Founder and CEO of Collaborative Endeavors, Inc. located in Cleveland, Ohio. Jimeka graduated from Case Western Reserve University, Weatherhead School of Management with a Ph.D in Management: Designing Sustainable Systems. She has taught at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga Community College.

A proud graduate of Neighborhood Leadership Cleveland’s Class 26, she has presented to other NLC classes and currently serves on the NLI Board of Directors. Her research and teaching interests include nonprofit financial management, social innovation ecosystem, and impact Investment.

Jimeka utilizes her skills at the intersections of the faith and corporate worlds, leveraging her passion in both to help benefit ministries and businesses alike. As a native Clevelander, Dr. Holloway has a desire to see the city transformed by intentionally supporting creatives who are inspired by their faith. 
She cites the training and guidance of NLI leaders like Don Slocum, Jacquie Gillon and Kevin McDaniel as a major influence in her career and continues to be inspired by them.

Jimeka states, “I was exposed to NLI early in my career and vowed to return as an NLC participant. I gained much from that training and now return to serve as an instructor for some sessions. NLI provided me with valuable leadership training and I want to help our city’s next generation of leaders!”

NLC's JUNE ALUMNI CHECK-IN

Monthly NLC Virtual Alumni Check-Ins continue this month. Join us on Friday June 25th for a casual online gathering. Discuss updates, network and socialize with your fellow alums! We look forward to seeing you! The virtual gathering takes place from 5:30 - 6:30 PM.

SAVE THE DATE: NLC ALUMNI CRUISE

This summer, the NLC Alumni Cruise returns! On August 27th, NLI invites NLC alumni to join in on this fun event on the Goodtime III for a cruise taking in the beautiful sights of Cleveland. More information will be available soon. A limited number of tickets will be offered.

SAVE THE DATE: NLC GRADUATION

Class 37 of Neighborhood Leadership Cleveland will graduate next month! The celebratory event will take place July 22nd at the Euclid Creek Reservation's Rear Quarry Shelter. NLC class members and their guests will join NLI leadership in commemorating this special occasion. NLC alum are invited to attend as well. A limited number of tickets will be available for $20/each.

NLI's COMMUNITY BOOK CLUB BEGINS BOOK #7

Our next Community Book Club is underway! Over 30 participants are joining in the reading of The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together by Heather McGhee. This program provides ongoing opportunities to discuss racial injustices in our country. Stay tuned for the announcement of our next book.
