FDA sets June meetings on COVID vaccines for youngest kids: “The (FDA) on Friday (4/29) set tentative dates in June to publicly review COVID-19 vaccines for the youngest American children, typically the final step before authorizing the shots.” - AP
CDC estimates 3 in 4 kids have had coronavirus infections: “Three out of every four U.S. children have been infected with the coronavirus and more than half of all Americans had signs of previous infections, (CDC) researchers estimated in a report Tuesday (4/26).” - AP
CDC reiterates its recommendation for masks on planes and trains: "U.S. health officials on Tuesday restated their recommendation that Americans wear masks on planes, trains and buses, despite a court ruling last month that struck down a national mask mandate on public transportation." - AP

FMA Councils & Committees Openings, Request for Annual Meeting Resolutions
Serving on an FMA council or committee gives you the opportunity to drive change at the state level by providing guidance and recommendations to the FMA Board of Governors on issues ranging from medical economics to physician wellness. We strongly encourage FMA members who are interested to complete and submit a brief online application. Applications must be submitted by 5PM, May 20th. Please email FMA or call (850) 224-6496 with any questions.

CCMS members are invited to submit your resolutions for the 2022 FMA Annual Meeting to the CCMS Board for consideration. The board will review each resolution for potential CCMS sponsorship. We will forward to the FMA House of Delegates all resolutions the Board agrees are in the best interests of CCMS members and their patients. To submit a resolution to the CCMS board for county sponsorship, email your resolution to CCMS by May 9th.

CCMS Candidate Nominations due May 17
The 2022 CCMS nominating committee invites CCMS members to submit candidates for review for the 2022-23 slate of CCMS officers. Candidates proposed by a member to the committee must be submitted in writing, including qualifications, to CCMS by May 17. Nominations from the floor at the annual meeting are also accepted from a member and with the consent of the nominee.

CCMS names Dr. Catherine Kowal CCMS Physician of the Year | |

CCMS is pleased to announce that Catherine Kowal, M.D. is the recipient of the 8th Annual CCMS Physician of the Year Award. This award honors a CCMS member who deserves special recognition for exemplary contributions to the practice of medicine and/or outstanding service to our community. Members of the Medical Society submitted nominations for this prestigious award to the CCMS Board of Directors, who have selected Dr. Kowal from the talented pool of candidates.
The award will be presented at the CCMS 65th Annual Meeting & Installation of Officers on July 16th.
