2023 Highlights

  • 38% of adults served are community employed.
  • Appreciation event included meals, awards and t-shirts for local DSPs.
  • First Community Inclusion basketball game.
  • Started Young Athlete Program.
  • Our float won first place in the Tomato Festival Parade.
  • Partnered with a local business to raise money for Buddy Baskets.
  • Increased training opportunities for staff.
  • Participated in outreach and education in local resource fairs.
  • Read to third grade classrooms to bring awareness and education to the community.
  • Provided a presentation to Northwest State Community College regarding available services.
  • Assisted with Community Developmental Screenings for children 0-3.

Early Intervention provided services to 131 children in Henry County.

The Henry County Board of Developmental Disabilities provided services to 506 total individuals in 2023.

253 children the ages of birth to 18 years old were served in Henry County. .

253 adults received county board services in 2023.

Voices of HOPE

Our advocacy group volunteered at six community events, provided healthy eating and a relationship class. They have also spent time learning about technology resources.

Special Olympics offered 16 different sports throughout the year including: basketball, competitive cheerleading, golf, bocce, powerlifting, bowling, esports, volleyball, flag football, track and field, tennis, soccer, cycling, softball, equestrian and swimming. Approximately 160 athletes participated throughout the year. Over 60 kids participated in the Young Athletes program this year.

Operating Financials


Revenue sources include local, federal, state and other funding.

The majority of operating expenses for the Henry County Board of Developmental Disabilities include costs associated with providing direct service for individuals. These costs include local match for Home and Community Based Waivers, day services, Advocacy, Special Olympics, transportation, service coordination provided by Service and Support Administrators (SSAs), Early Intervention Services and Individual & Family Support Services.

A message from the Superintendent


We are thrilled to share the incredible impact that the Henry County Board of Developmental Disabilities has had over the past year. Our 2023 Annual Report showcases the individuals we have served through our Early Intervention, Service and Support, Employment, Advocacy and Special Olympics programs. We take great pride in the fact that we have been able to serve so many individuals and families in our community, and we are committed to continuing to provide exceptional services and support to those with developmental disabilities.
