Class for newcomers

Are you new or new-ish to St. John and would like to learn more about Methodism and our church? Join Pastor Andy at 10:30 a.m. April 14 and 21 in Room 163 for a Welcome Point class. All are welcome.

Stay awake on Sundays

Beans From Above, St. John's youth-run espresso stand, is up and running! Enjoy a latte, mocha, Italian soda or other delicious drink and help support youth service and outreach projects. Payment by credit card is now available, and punch cards can be purchased as well.

Food for F.I.S.H.

St. John's annual spring food drive for F.I.S.H. kicks off on Sunday! Lists of suggested food items and reusable bags will be handed out on Sunday. Monetary donations are always welcome as well.

Sherrie Hunt service

A memorial service for longtime St. John member Sherrie Hunt will be held on her birthday, Thursday, April 11, at 5:30 p.m. at St. John. A reception with cookies and coffee will follow.

School of Theology registration is open

Registration for the 2024 Alaska School of Theology is now open! It will be hosted at St. John UMC in conjunction with the 2024 Annual Conference in June. Courses are scheduled for June 28 and 29 and will be led by the Rev. Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles, whose focus will be “Experiencing God.” Continuing education credits are available. New MMW study

Monday Morning Women will start a new six-week study on April 15: "1 Corinthians: Searching the Depths of God" by Jaime Clark-Soles ($10). In her book, we will get to discuss the trials and challenges of the church at Corinth, how it relates to the church today, and what words from Paul might offer us support. Jaime will be kicking off the return to the Alaska School of Theology and will be offering a teaching June 28 and 29. Join MMW from 10:30 a.m.- 12 p.m. in Room 163!

Clothes party

Aimee Sudbeck will be collecting items for a Gender Affirming Clothes Party at University Alaska Anchorage. Bring cute clothing donations to St. John on Wednesday, April 17.

Soul Care bags

Do you have a special friend or person in your life that might appreciate a pick-me-up, something that tells them they are loved and appreciated? 

United Women in Faith will be putting together "Soul Care Bags" on Saturday, April 13. We're asking for donations of small items to include (toiletries, candles, notecards, chocolate, etc.). Look for the collection basket near the main entrance to the church.  

And please join us on that morning at 9:30 a.m. to share in the joy of assembling (and delivering) these gifts. This is a wonderful spring event that provides fun and fellowship and the chance to share our love with those we love.
