Incentive Project Update:
The California E-Bike Incentive Project is officially launching soon! This month, the California Air Resource Board (CARB) will announce the date that the program will start accepting applications. There are approximately 15,000 vouchers available for all of California this year. We anticipate that they'll go quickly. This means you will want to apply as soon as the program opens.
In order to get your application in as quickly as possible, we recommend preparing ahead of time by having your proof of residency (valid California Driver’s License, California AB 60 License, or California ID Card) and proof of income documents ready to go. Click here for the website that specifies which documents you can use for proof of income. For the full page explaining eligibility, click here.
Pedal Ahead, the nonprofit administering the program, has recruited retailers in preparation for the launch. Click here to see the map of approved retailers in the greater Sacramento Region.
Reminders about the Incentive Project:
- Qualifying applicants will be granted voucher amounts from $1,000-$2,000 based on household income and address
- Vouchers can be redeemed for qualifying e-bikes and accessories at participating bike shops
- Only California ID or Driver License is required to apply, not proof of citizenship
- Funding is still going to be first-come first-served
- A wait list will be created for those unable to access the first round of vouchers. Details on how the wait list will work have not yet been released
We will follow up with an email when the application goes live. Keep an eye on your inbox for another message from us this Spring!
