Hello Salmon Bay Families!
Thank you to everyone who stayed after Friday Sing this morning for our FOSB Town Hall & Conversation. FOSB wouldn't exist without dedicated volunteers giving their time, money and support. Our website is a great place to find information about the ways in which FOSB contributes to the school. But we also recognize that all the information can be a bit overwhelming; it’s hard to know where to jump in!
We hope to have more community conversations, such as the one this morning. Many really great questions were raised; dialogue gives us all a chance to clarify information in the moment, and explain the nebulous process that is budget planning, school district relationships, the ways FOSB supports the school, and so much more. Even long-time members of FOSB and seasoned school volunteers continue to learn new nuggets of information during each conversation.
We truly couldn’t do our work without your support and involvement.
On that note, please consider filling out our Budget Survey (details below). It is incredibly helpful for the budget committee and the FOSB board to know what is important to our community and our families as we plan for the next school year. And, if you have any questions about the process, please don’t hesitate to ask!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Note: if you are planning a class, grade band, or all-school event that is not currently listed in the FOSB newsletter, online calendar, or FOSB FB events and would like for it to be added, please reach out to fosbnewsletter@gmail.com with relevant details to have them added.

Volunteer Opportunity: School Tour Parent Guides
Salmon Bay will have two enrollment tours coming up to show prospective families around the school and answer questions. With the volunteer coordinator position in transition, Ms Dixon has asked that FOSB help fill a few parent spots for leading prospective families around Salmon Bay. WEB leaders (8th grade mentoring program) are going to also be school guides, and it's useful to have a current parent available to help answer questions.
If you're available, please email FOSB Chairs Caitlin & Julie (fosbchair@gmail.com) so we can feel confident that we have a handful of people coming. Or, if your schedule opens up at the last minute, feel free to just show up.
January 23: SBK8 Enrollment Tours - Elementary @ 9AM, MS @ 9:30 am. More info.
February 6th: SBK8 Enrollment Tours - Elementary @ 6PM, MS @ 7PM. More info

Save the Date: MULTICULTURAL CELEBRATION & POTLUCK
Wednesday, April 17th, 6:00 - 8:00 PM
SAVE THE DATE! The FOSB Building Community Initiative (BCI) invites the entire Salmon Bay Community to a Multicultural Celebration & Potluck. This event aspires to bring our community together to share and celebrate our diverse cultures, heritages, and whole selves through food, music, hands-on activities (arts, crafts & games), and live performances. Families can participate by simply attending or volunteering to share something that feels meaningful to you and your cultural identification.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We're currently in the planning stages, and looking for several go-getters to join small teams that organize the communities' contributions to the potluck, hands-on-activities, and performances. Please consider volunteering as a coordinator by clicking here to learn more and sign up! We are hopeful that coordinators can begin working with BCI leaders to plan and secure participation in February, with the bulk of organizing occurring a few weeks prior to the event - no more than a couple hours per week.
