Together for Joy: Stewardship Pledge Campaign for 2022

Our annual Stewardship Pledge Campaign for 2022 kicked off on Sunday, October 17. Throughout the challenges of the last year and a half, we have discovered new ways of being together for worship, for service, for study, and for joy. We will carry all we have learned about God and our faithful community into the next season of our church life as we sing a new song together. Over the next three Sundays, we will celebrate God’s wonderful gifts to us as we take time with God, in prayer, to consider how we can give of our own time, talent, and treasure with joy. If you did not pick up your pledge packet on Sunday, look for yours to come in the mail this week. You may also make your pledge online and read about the 2020 stewardship campaign too. We ask that you prayerfully consider making your pledge and returning it by November 7, when we will celebrate All Saints and all pledges will be blessed.
Join Us for Worship This Sunday at 10,

Come celebrate our lives together in worship this Sunday. Everyone is welcome. Masks are required for all in attendance, and we continue to offer our worship online with a livestream of Sunday’s service.
EYC Gathers with Fun; Learns about the Refugees We'll Help Sponsor

The EYC met this past Sunday from 5:00 to 6:30. We had a great turnout; over twenty youth attended! The youth created God's Eyes as they arrived. They also drew names to determine their Prayer Partners, interviewed one another, and introduced each other to the rest of the group. We then moved on to a discussion related to refugees, building our background knowledge of the subject.

The purpose of this activity was to prepare the youth for our upcoming November 21st discussion with David Crowe about St. Andrew's adopted Afghani refugee family (see below.) The youth did a fantastic job engaging in conversation and listening as Jon Anderson led the lesson. Of course, in true EYC tradition, we ended the gathering by playing a few team-building games outside. Fellowship and fun for all!
Help Us Prepare for Afghan Refugees

St. Andrew’s is joining with St. Francis Episcopal Church and with Church World Services to support an Afghan family in their upcoming resettlement process in Greensboro. The Mission and Outreach Committee has an initial budget of $5,000 to support at least one family’s housing needs for 5-6 months. Additionally, each St. Andrew’s interest group (choir, youth, vestry, etc.) will help by adopting a particular form of support for the family, such as household items or food. There will be other ways to help that involve some advance training, such as transportation assistance and educational outreach. If you would like to help in any of these ways or have questions, please contact Doug Sanecki at dpsanecki@gmail.com
Celebrate the Life of Judy Wells

The funeral for Judy Wells will be next Friday, October 29, at 2 pm in the Church. The congregation is invited.
It’s Almost Stew Season

Brunswick stew will soon be simmering, and you have the opportunity to be fed and feed your neighbor. For every quart of stew sold, the proceeds will be donated to the Greens and Green (SNAP) program at the Corner Farmers Market—and will be matched (yes, doubled!) by an anonymous donor. So order your stew now by emailing Sandy Shelton at sheltonsandy9496@gmail.com. The price is $10.00/quart. Sales are open through November 5, and delivery is Saturday November 13, 2-4 p.m., and after church Sunday November 14.
Calling all Greeters and Newcomer Hosts

If you have served in this important ministry, we'd like to hear from you! The Invite, Welcome, Connect committee is looking to schedule teams for our in-person worship, and we would like to have our experienced team members to join us. If you have not served in the past but would like to know more, now is the time to reach out for more information. Please contact Alan Atwell at 336-706-7675 for further details.

Speaking of Calendars ...

St. Andrew’s is increasingly making use of the buildings for in-person church meetings. Please remember to send a request to the office to be sure your meeting is scheduled on the parish calendar AND that you arrive to a cooled (or heated) space, with no other group already there. Please email Susan at parish@standrewsgso.org with your requests, and look for them to appear on the facilities use calendar, which you will find on the left side of the St. Andrew’s homepage, here
