Psalms 142 Commentary
(142:4-6) A Desperate Prayer - Have you ever felt that no one cares what happens to you? David had good reason to feel that way, and he wrote, "Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low." Through prayer, we can pull out of this kind of tailspin and be reminded that God cares for us deeply.
(142:7) Prayer in the Midst of Struggle - This psalm was written when David was hiding from Saul in caves like the ones at Adullam (1 Samuel 22) and En-gedi (2 Samuel 24). These may have seemed like prisons to him because of their darkness, isolation, and confinement.
