Encinitas Arbor Day Event - Donate Your Homegrown Produce

Bring your homegrown backyard produce to the City of Encinitas Arbor Day Celebration at Cottonwood Creek! Local, nonprofit food rescue organization ProduceGood will be collecting donations for feeding agencies in the community.

Guns for Gift Cards Event - No Questions Asked

The San Diego Sheriff’s Department is hosting a Guns for Gift Cards exchange event this Sunday. Receive a $100 gift card for a handgun, rifle or shotgun; and receive a $200 gift card for an assault weapon.

 

  • Firearms must be in working order
  • Place the unloaded firearm in the trunk
  • A deputy will provide instructions
  • All weapons collected will be destroyed

Closure - Maggie Houlihan Memorial Dog Park at Encinitas Community Park - Annual Spring Maintenance

While we prepare for the busy summer season, the Maggie Houlihan Memorial Dog Park at Encinitas Community Park will be closed for annual spring maintenance. We appreciate your patience and understanding and look forward to seeing you when the dog park reopens. Please enjoy off-leash hours at other city parks in the meantime. For questions or concerns, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 760-633-2740.

 

Date closed: May 2 - May 29

Date re-opening: May 30 at 8 a.m.

Location: The Maggie Houlihan Memorial Dog Park at Encinitas Community Park, 425 Santa Fe Drive

EVgo Charging Stations coming to City Hall Parking Lot

If you pass by City Hall, you may have noticed that the EVgo stations on the lower parking lot with six 50kW fast chargers are installed. The lot has been resurfaced and striped and this site will be ready for you to come fast charge your EV soon. While it looks ready to go now, EVgo awaits to be added to SDG&E’s schedule to set the transformer for the chargers. Once this work is completed by SDGE, then this great location will be open to the public! We’ll let you know when it’s officially open.

Movie in the Park - Encanto

Join us for the hit Disney movie, “Encanto,” at Glen Park. Enjoy a night under the stars and a fun family movie beginning just after dusk. Stop by before the movie for a free craft project inspired by the dazzling florals in “Encanto.”

Free Document Shredding, Mulch Giveaway and E-Waste Recycling Event for Encinitas Residents

Shredding: The City of Encinitas and EDCO are sponsoring a free document shredding event with a certified shredding truck onsite. Shredding will be limited to two bankers boxes per Encinitas household, measuring 10 inches wide, 12 inches long and 15 inches tall.

 

Mulch: Free mulch will be available while supplies last. This is a self-serve, self-loading and self-haul service. Please bring gloves and a shovel, as well as up to 3 cans or bags per vehicle to fill up.

 

Electronic Waste: EDCO will also be accepting electronic waste including: cell phones, central processing units (CPUs), computer and television monitors, fax machines, household batteries, laptop computers, printers and scanners, miscellaneous computer components, radios, and VCRs.

City of Encinitas Notice - Unscheduled Vacancy on the Planning Commission - Olivenhain Representative

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Encinitas is accepting applications to fill one unscheduled vacancy on the Planning Commission-Olivenhain Representative with a term ending March 1, 2023. Application forms must be completed online from the City’s website. All applicants must be registered voters of the City of Encinitas and reside in Olivenhain. The deadline for applications is Thursday, May 5, at 5 p.m. 


Applicants may be asked to attend a City Council meeting to briefly discuss (two to three minutes) their qualifications and interest in serving on the commission. Term of office for the unscheduled vacancy will begin upon appointment. 


PLANNING COMMISSION: One (1) appointment to fill an unscheduled vacancy for the Olivenhain Representative with a term ending March 1, 2023 (Commissioner Ehlers term of office terminated). The Planning Commission is a five member board with each member representing one of the five communities of Encinitas: Cardiff, Leucadia, New Encinitas, Old Encinitas, and Olivenhain. Applicants must have resided as a registered voter in Olivenhain for no less than six months prior to appointment and maintain residency and voter registration in Olivenhain while serving on the Commission. The Planning Commission shall perform such duties as may be specified by ordinance or resolution of the City Council or by the laws of the State of California. Further, the Planning Commission shall study and report to the City Council upon any matter referred to it by the City Council and shall keep the City Council currently advised of all matters pending, and shall furnish any special information, reports, or materials which the City Council may request. The Planning Commission shall make a final determination as authorized by the Code for the following applications: Coastal Development, Conditional Use Permit (Major), Tentative Tract Map, Zoning Code Interpretation, Application for project in more than one Community Planning area, and other applications and duties as required by the Code. In addition, the Planning Commission shall make recommendation to the City Council as authorized by the Code for the following applications: General Plan Interpretation, General Plan Amendment, Zoning Code Amendment, Zoning Map Amendment, Specific Plan, and other applications as required by the Code.
