As part of our #WKUGrad series, articles on graduating students as well as event information are shared in the weeks leading up to Commencement. Note: Commencement exercises on Thursday evening will be held rain or shine, so graduates and guests should check weather forecasts and plan accordingly. Umbrellas and ponchos will be allowed in Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. If severe weather is in the area, WKU will communicate delay information via the Commencement website, emergency alert text messaging and email. More: Commencement website
Antoine Smith-Rouse
On Thursday, graduate student Antoine Smith-Rouse will finally get to add “WKU graduate” to his already impressive list of laurels. He is a first-generation, non-traditional college student, a community leader, a devoted father of nine alongside his beloved husband, and, in a few short days, a college graduate.
Lee Friedman
Lee Friedman from Princeton, Indiana, has always been passionate about the military and small business, so it was no surprise when he chose WKU's Gordon Ford College of Business and the WKU Army ROTC program. Friedman is a four-year Cadet in WKU's ROTC program and current Battalion Commander.
2022 Commencement
WKU will celebrate 3,713 graduates, present two honorary doctorates and recognize top scholars during 2022 Commencement on Thursday. WKU will confer degrees and certificates to 2,527 spring and summer 2022 graduates and will honor 1,186 fall 2021 graduates whose recognition ceremonies were disrupted by December tornadoes.
