USDOT Awards $8.8M in AID Demonstration Grants


FHWA announced the award of $8.8M in AID Demonstration grants, funding 10 projects in eight states plus the District of Columbia to deploy transportation innovations that enhance safety and save time, money, and resources.

Road Safety Champion Training


NCRRS released its latest training schedule for their Road Safety Champion Program (RSCP), a nationally recognized certificate program designed to build a knowledgeable, safety minded workforce who operate, maintain, and design local roads. RSCP is open to anyone from transportation, public health, and law enforcement who have an interest in roadway safety.


Starting in January, NCRRS will host a series of onling training that covers many of RSCP's career-focused modules. Each 2-hour session is free to attend and completion goes towards your becoming RSCP-certified.

Ultra-High Performance Concrete


UHPC is a structural material that exhibits compelling structural behaviors, including sustained post-cracking tensile resistance, increased compressive strength and elastic modulus, and a lower susceptibility to liquid permeation.


To advance the state of practice for UHPC, FHWA has published "Structural Design with UHPC", a report that provides information on the structural design of bridge components, and "UHPC Link Slab Design Example", a guide on the use of UHPC link slabs for preserving highway bridges.

Local Assistance Day Webinar


Caltrans DLA invites you to join its Local Assistance Day statewide webinar this February 27th, a quarterly event meant to inform RTPAs, MPOs, local agencies, and other interested transportation parties.


Local Assistance Day subjects cover information sharing, local project delivery policies, processes, procedures, and facilitating peer-sharing of best practices.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is in the process of certifying California’s truck size & weight program


During this process, FHWA and Caltrans are asking for your assistance to evaluate the oversize and/or overweight transportation permit fee schedules of California counties and cities who issue transportation permits.
